Today's Gospel brings one of the most searching questions Jesus ever asked: who do you say that I am? Not who do the crowds say, but you. It is a question every generation must answer personally. On the same day, the Church honors St. Aloysius Gonzaga, a young Jesuit nobleman who gave up wealth and title to serve the plague-stricken poor of Rome, dying at twenty-three. His answer to that question cost him everything. Ours will cost us something too.
