Over the past week, our Moose Lodge recycling drop-off location has experienced a significant increase in illegal dumping and unacceptable materials being left in the recycling containers.

When improper materials are placed in the bins, it creates additional work for our staff to sort and remove them. It also increases disposal costs, which ultimately impacts our recycling operations. While some of these materials are accepted at our main facility, they may require a fee to be properly recycled rather than sent to the landfill.

We understand that recycling guidelines can sometimes be confusing, so please take a moment to read the signage posted on each recycling container before leaving your materials.

🔹 Only place accepted materials in the designated bins.
🔹 Do not leave items on the ground or outside of the containers.
🔹 If you’re unsure whether something is recyclable, please ask before putting it in a container.

We understand security cameras would greatly help us address illegal dumping at our drop-off locations. Unfortunately, installing cameras at all of our sites requires a significant investment. Our goal is to eventually have security cameras at every drop-off location.

In the meantime, your cooperation is greatly appreciated. Proper recycling helps keep our community clean, reduces unnecessary disposal costs, and allows us to continue providing convenient recycling drop-off locations.

For a complete list of accepted materials, please visit our website at alpenarecycling.org or call us at 989-354-2607.

Thank you for helping us keep our recycling sites clean and our community a better place! ♻️

Thank you!! ♻️

A big shoutout to our team members Brandon and Matt for volunteering at the Northeast Michigan Materials Management Authority's Annual Cleanup & E-Waste Day!

Brandon kept things running smoothly by directing traffic and helping community members navigate the event. Meanwhile, Matt took on tire duty, and let's just say it was definitely a dirty job, but someone had to do it - THANKS MATT!

We're proud of our team for rolling up their sleeves and helping keep Northeast Michigan clean and green.

Just a reminder the real life hazard of batteries being put into recycling & waste streams. We accept them at our facility year round to help keep them out of waste and recycling streams to prevent the worst case scenarios.

Where do old tires go when you recycle them? Could be used in new roads. What a great story ♻️
