Besser Pipe and Precast Sales Representative Don McNutt recently joined industry friends and colleagues at the Indiana Kentucky Ohio Concrete Pipe Association’s 74th Annual Meeting in Lexington, Kentucky.

The meeting brought together producers, industry leaders, and state representatives to share updates on transportation projects, budgets, and what’s ahead for the concrete pipe industry across the region.

There was also a special moment for Don when IKO surprised him with an award recognizing 40 years as an “Ambassador for the Concrete Pipe Industry."

If you know Don, you know he brings plenty of energy and industry insight to every conversation. He also brings that same enthusiasm as the host of Concrete McMinute, where he talks about different topics across the industry.

Congratulations, Don, and thank you for 40 years of connecting, contributing, and supporting our industry!

One of the ways we ensure safety stays at the forefront of everything we do at Besser is through proactive and reoccurring training. Our team recently took part in hands-on fire extinguisher training to learn how to respond quickly and confidently in the event of a fire.

Taught by our local fire department, we were able to get practical experience acting out the PASS method with experts!

We're happy to have supported the Alpena Sports Hall of Fame in recognizing the athletes, coaches, teams, and contributors who have helped shape our community's rich sports history.

Celebrating these achievements not only honors past accomplishments but also inspires future generations to pursue excellence, leadership, and teamwork. The Besser donation went towards the purchase of the plaques and medals for the honorees.

In late August, Besser Engineering Team Leader Corey Blankenship headed to Arizona to share his expertise with third-year students in the Arizona Masonry Council’s Block Machine Operators Apprentice Program.

Over four days, Corey led classroom and hands-on training focused on the electrical systems and controls used in block production, giving students practical knowledge they can put to work. And the feedback? “The content was spot on,” said Dawn Rogers, AMC Executive Director.

We’re proud to support a program that combines classroom instruction, hands-on skill development, and on-the-job learning to prepare the next generation of concrete masonry professionals. When we share what we know, we help strengthen the industry we all depend on.
