Ever introduced a new product you were genuinely excited about, only to get a lukewarm response? Before assuming your customers didn't understand the pitch, consider the possibility that they understood it perfectly. They just didn't see what was in it for them. In his latest blog post for Print + Promo Marketing, Wise CEO Bill Prettyman breaks down a simple framework for getting customers as excited about a new product as you are.

Looking for steady, repeatable business? Look to the government market.

Federal, state, and local governments collectively spend more than $1 billion on printing every year. And unlike many industries, many government operations still run on paper. Regulatory requirements, records retention rules, and compliance mandates keep physical documents in constant demand.

Think about everything a government office needs: PO's, tax forms, licenses and permits, compliance forms, claims and benefits forms, incident reports, employee forms. Then add labels for asset management, file folders, employee ID badges, visitor passes, security applications, and HazCom warnings.

You don't need to be a government contracting expert to get started. Wise provides the products, technical support, and customizable sell sheets that help you walk into government accounts prepared.

Earlier this month, Wise came together with American Solutions for Business (Glenwood, MN) to support the country’s largest one-day food drive, Stamp Out Hunger.

Hosted annually by the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC), Stamp Out Hunger has been going since 1983 and is the largest single-day food drive in the nation. It has since continued to feed millions of Americans every year.

Mail carriers picked up food donations from mailboxes across the community, delivering nearly 40,000 lbs. of food to the local food bank.

School kids applied labels to collection bags and distributed them through the mail. On Saturday, mail carriers picked up the filled bags while on their regular routes. When their trucks were full, they dropped off food at satellite locations throughout the community, including schools, churches, and grocery store parking lots. Volunteers (scouts, church members, and families) helped unload the trucks at each site. Once the collection crates were full, the ICA Foodshelf truck picked up the food.

It's a well-coordinated effort that happens every year, and this year's results are needed more than ever. The local food bank has experienced a significant increase in requests for food assistance.

For the food drive, Wise donated 35,000 4" x 4" food bag labels with rounded corners and permanent adhesive that ensured that they'd stick through multiple handlings and weather exposure.

Big thanks to the mail carriers, school kids, volunteers, and families who made this year's drive such a success.

Did you know? Memorial Day wasn't always known as Memorial Day. It started as "Decoration Day" on May 30, 1868, when Americans decorated the graves of soldiers who died during the Civil War.

General John A. Logan, commander of the Grand Army of the Republic, chose May 30 because flowers would be in bloom across the nation. That first observance saw communities gathering at cemeteries to honor fallen soldiers with flowers and remembrance.

After World War I, the holiday expanded to honor all American military personnel who died in any war. In 1971, Congress made Memorial Day a federal holiday and moved it to the last Monday in May.

This Memorial Day, we honor and remember those who gave their lives in service to our country.
