I watched a founder pitch his software to a room full of potential customers.

He spent 40 minutes walking through features, demos, and case studies. At the end, when he revealed the price, hands shot up immediately - "Can you do better on pricing?" "That's more than we budgeted." "We'll need to think about it."

He scrambled to explain the ROI and value proposition, but it was too late. The damage was done.

By the time the price came up, he was already negotiating from a position of weakness.

Starting today, Perplexity is providing answers leveraging SEC data for all investors.

I don't know about you, but filings can be a bit 'dense'...at least for me!

Their new SEC/EDGAR integration provides direct access to comprehensive financial data for all investors, delivered through their GPT engine, making complex information instantly understandable.

Lord knows most filings are laden with incomprehensible blah blah, so this is a welcome feature.

Using Perplexity you'll be able to do deep dives into a company's financials, strategic plans, market assessments, and risks.

Too often, critical information is buried under a ton of jargon and dare I say, 'word saladry', making these filings difficult to understand, assess and extract valuable sales and/or marketing information.

Since the answers come with direct citations to the source document(s), you'll be able to drill down without jumping between Edgar and your favorite GPT flavor of the month!

Dear CXOs, the fundamental shift in business is that labor is being 'decoupled' from capital!

What do I mean by that?

For centuries, labor and capital have been tightly coupled.
- Growth required headcount.
- Scale required hiring.
- Revenue expansion meant larger teams.

Not anymore!

Think about the following:
- Agrarian World: You needed 100 farmers to feed 100 families.
- Industrial world: 1 farmer with a tractor feeds 100 families.
- AI World: 1 person with AI can control drones and machinery to feed millions.

Capital, in the form of AI and AI agents, can create value independent of traditional human labor. (Sidenote: Alvin Toffler predicted this in the 90s)

In sales, you can have AI agents who can:

✔ Market
✔ Prospect
✔ Analyze pipeline
✔ Generate proposals
✔ Negotiate terms
✔ Provide 24/7 customer support/engagement

One high-performer, equipped with 'good' AI, can now drive the output of entire teams.

AI isn’t replacing sales, but more about redefining sales.

The old sales models need to be questioned, changed, or transformed to fit this new AI reality!

The winners will be organizations and leaders who understand what the 'decoupling' means:

- Smaller, highly empowered sales forces

Big News! Meta to Fully Automate Ad Creation with AI

Meta automating ad creation with AI is low-hanging fruit with a big ROI!

A simple yet brilliant move to increase profitability!

Using an AI Agent to help 'reduce the friction' in ad creation will undoubtedly increase the number of advertisers on the platform.

With AI guiding the design, targeting, and messaging, small businesses and entrepreneurs will feel more empowered and emboldened to spend their marketing dollars.

The subtext? The 'let's not say the quiet part aloud' part?
Small companies, especially entrepreneurs, may no longer need as many people on their marketing team, if any!

The cost savings could potentially be shifted to marketing, thereby increasing Meta's ad revenues!

The simplicity of inputting "basic details like product images and budgets, and AI will generate complete campaigns, including visuals, text, and targeting strategies" with an AI Agent will allow Meta to lower internal costs by reducing headcount or shifting their resources elsewhere.

For Meta, that means: ad revenue up + internal cost down = profitability up!

I might even argue that CSAT scores might go up?!

Thought of the Day: Moats have (AI) Boats.

What do I mean?

A software startup may claim a 'moat' (durable competitive edge), but AI is the Boat that can Float across the Moat! 😝

What does this mean for today's startups?

More competition! Cue the 'Red Ocean' theme song!

Also, finding investors for software startups will get harder for two obvious reasons:

1. As AI gets better, new entrants can develop the same product, Better, Faster, Stronger (homage to Daft Punk),

2. OR, established platforms (Salesforce, Hubspot, et al) have an 'incumbent advantage' and can leverage AI to expand their feature footprint, thereby killing off the startup (i.e., potential competitor).

Investing gets riskier in direct proportion to AI getting better.

Clay Christensen's Innovator's Dilemma, at least in the AI software world, is no longer a dilemma but a reflex.

Disrupting one's platform with AI becomes easier and brings the cost of software development to near zero.
