The five stages of outboard grief:

Denial. "It's probably just bad gas."
Anger. Words your kids now know.

Depression. Paddling home with a cooler lid.
Acceptance. Calling us.

Most folks do all five on the water. In the off-season you can skip straight to number five, in a warm garage, with dry socks.

You didn't hit anything. The skeg simply chose a different life.

A cracked or broken gearcase housing doesn't mean the whole lower unit is done. We sell empty gearcase housings — cleaned, inspected for cracks, threads checked — so you can move your good gears, shafts, and bearings into a case that isn't leaking. Or skip the surgery and grab a complete lower unit, pressure tested with fresh seals and a warranty.

Send us the serial and a photo of the damage. We'll tell you which road is cheaper.

A customer once told us his powerhead showed up "encased in foam like it was going to the moon."

That's on purpose. A lower unit that survived twenty years on the water shouldn't die in a truck. Everything we ship is packed by people who'd be personally offended if it got dented — and it goes out fast, because you've got a weekend on the line.

Not everybody runs a 300. Some of us run a 25 on a jon boat and consider that a lifestyle.

We take care of the little motors too — tiller handles, carbs, lower units, props, recoil starters, cowlings, ignition — for the 9.9s and 25s and 40s that have been quietly getting people to the good spot for thirty years. Used OEM, cleaned, cross-referenced, warrantied.

When the dealer says "that motor's too old," send us the serial. Old is our shelf.

Everybody on the internet says "tested." Here's ours.

Every lower unit that comes through our shop gets pressure tested. Gears get pulled and inspected for wear, pitting, and cracks. Shafts get checked straight. Seals get replaced, not looked at and hoped about. If it doesn't pass, it doesn't get the warranty sticker — it gets torn down for the parts that did.

That's why we can put a real warranty on a used part and sleep fine.

Lower units, sterndrive uppers, gearcases, powerheads, trim pumps, ignition — used OEM, inspected the way you'd inspect it if you had the bench.

Here's how the off-season goes for most people: October, "I'll get to it." December, "I'll get to it." March, "why is every part in America sold out?"

Skip the March part. Everything we sell is on the shelf right now — thousands of used OEM outboard and sterndrive parts, tested, cleaned, and backed by a real warranty. Lower units up to a full year. Most everything else six months.

Email us the year, horsepower, and what's wrong. We'll do the figuring so you can do the wrenching — or at least the watching.

Sterndrive owners are a patient breed. You've made peace with the bellows. You know what a gimbal bearing sounds like when it's thinking about quitting.

What you shouldn't have to make peace with is a four-figure quote for an upper or lower drive that's still perfectly good on somebody else's boat.

We stock good used, tested sterndrive uppers and lowers, gearcase housings, gears, shafts, trim pumps, and the hard-to-find bits — all OEM, all inspected, all warrantied. Pull it out this fall, send us your ratio and serial, and put it back together before the ice goes off.

Somewhere right now, a man is being told by a dealer that his 2004 lower unit is "no longer supported."

It's supported. It's on our shelf. It's been pressure tested and it comes with a warranty.

We've been keeping older outboards and sterndrives on the water since 2009 — lower units, powerheads, trim, ignition, carbs, props, and about ten thousand other things. Used OEM. Cleaned. Cross-referenced. Backed.
