Here is a huge batch of traditional hand wrought hinges and hardware I made for a garlic barn. Garlic barns are made with many shutters and doors to be opened for maximum airflow in order to dry the garlic harvest. With all those shutters you need a whole heap of hinges and latches. These hinges and pintles are all completely hand forged with forge welded construction. Hand wrought ironwork like this would have been typical on any outbuilding in the early to mid 19th century. I also ended up making all the hand forged nails to go along with them. I can't wait to see my customers garlic barn completed this year with all of the hinges installed.

It was a real privilege to have a hand in the restoration of The Van Ostrande–Radliff House, Albany, New York's oldest building, constructed in 1728. Restorations to the building were recently completed by , and I am grateful to have been tapped in to make some of the period ironwork by Glenco Restoration. I reproduced hand wrought hinges, dead bolts, and latches which now adorn the quintessential Dutch colonial facade and shutters. What an incredible piece of history. These are pictures of the hardware in progress and fitted up in the Glenco shops. I hope to take some photos of my work installed on site soon.

Finished off the week with this railing installation for a customer. Hand forged cattails and big twisted knuckles are looking good on this project. I bet it will look even better once the gardens are in bloom and we are out of mud season.
