Paul Castaneda: Agent Of Change

Paul Castaneda: Agent Of Change Yesterday is gone and tomorrow is promised to no one. What will you do today to change your life? Change is inevitable, the one constant of life.

High achievers, leaders, those ultimately successful at life, realize that accepting and preparing for change is a key to success. And they realize that part of that preparation involves trusting and relying on coaches/mentors/consultants/content experts to help. The greatest athletes in the world have coaches to make them the best of the best. Leaders in business have mentors or coaches that they

use to check themselves and re-direct when necessary. Our political representatives have coaches for just about everything they do: speeches, public speaking, the written word. It seems in almost every discipline under the sun, coaches are used to raise our results to new levels. Until recently, this model had not been translated to the lives of the everyday person. Now, that has changed, for the betterment of all. A coach is there to listen, to guide, to assist. They are there to help you define what you want and to identify the gaps between what you say you want and the actions and results you are currently attaining. Whether we are talking about career, financial, social, family, physical, intellectual or even spiritual goals, a coach will work with you to prepare a clear picture of where you are, why you are there and how you can get from there to where it is you want to be. Paul Castaneda has been coaching family, friends and clients for well over a decade, both officially and unofficially. A “student of the game” of self-actualization, Paul has trained through various mediums and sources to become the best asset he can be for the public at large. Not least among these is what he has learned about the human condition and the “why’s” of what we do. Whether you are looking to get past a block in a certain area of your life or you are just finally ready to start reaching for the dreams you’ve talked about for years, Paul stands ready to help get you there…TODAY!

BUSINESS THOUGHT OF THE DAY

"The function of leadership is to create more leaders, not more followers."
~Ralph Nader

Still, in 2023, the business world as a whole has not mined the absolute gold contained in the quote above. Instead, many "leaders" are focused on working angles, using talent but not developing it out of fear of competition or replacement, etc.

Any real leader knows the best thing they can do is surround themselves with people who can one day surpass them, given a little nurturing and development. Their growth only solidifies the leader's growth in any healthy business.

BUSINESS THOUGHT OF THE DAY

In any business, if your attempt to educate, uplift or enlighten contains any type of self congratulatory content or pointing to oneself as the example or model to be followed, you are not really educating, uplifting or enlightening. You are bragging. You are not sharing for the greater good. You are leading with ego. And that's perfectly fine, as long as we all understand that this is what is actually occurring.

Empathy in sales, if we are being transparent and honest, is sorely lacking. There are many reasons for this. One of the biggest is self interest.

When we are completely driven as salespeople by our own goals and targets, we are in no position to prioritize the needs and emotions of our potential customers. Everything we do and say begins to revolve around "closing the sale" as opposed to "understanding and helping the customer".

Take the time today and forward to really focus on what the customer is experiencing, what they are hoping will happen and how they'd prefer it happen. It will differentiate you from the vast majority of folks in our profession.

“One can choose to go back toward safety or forward toward growth. Growth must be chosen again and again; fear must be overcome again and again.”
― Abraham Maslow

Profound words from Abraham Maslow, remidning us that growth is a conscious choice we must make repeatedly in our personal/professional lives. In the realm of business and sales, this quote resonates deeply, as it captures the essence of the challenges we face and the transformative opportunities they present.

In the evolving landscape of business, it's tempting to cling to the familiar and opt for the path of safety. However, I firmly believe that true success lies in embracing the unknown, stepping out of our comfort zones, and pursuing continuous growth. It is through this process that we unlock our full potential, achieve breakthroughs, and inspire those around us.

Fear often stands as the biggest obstacle to growth. It whispers doubt into our ears, planting seeds of uncertainty that can hold us back from seizing new opportunities. But fear, my friends, is not an insurmountable barrier. It is a call to action, a sign that we are on the precipice of something extraordinary.

To overcome fear, we must cultivate resilience, embrace change, and develop the mindset of a growth-oriented individual. It is about recognizing that failure is not a defeat but a stepping stone on the path to success. Each setback presents an invaluable opportunity to learn, adapt, and improve.

This mindset is crucial. Sales professionals face rejection, uncertainty, and challenges daily. It is in these moments that the choice between safety and growth becomes particularly poignant. By choosing growth, we open ourselves up to new strategies, innovative approaches, and enhanced skills that propel us towards greater success.

As leaders, it is our responsibility to foster a culture of growth within our teams and organizations. We must encourage and empower our colleagues to overcome their fears, take calculated risks, and embrace continuous learning. By doing so, we create an environment where individuals thrive, innovation flourishes, and collective success becomes attainable.

So, I invite you all to join me in choosing growth, again and again. Let us overcome our fears, challenge ourselves, and inspire others to reach their full potential. As we walk together on this journey, let's remember that growth is not a destination but a lifelong commitment. It requires dedication, perseverance, and an unwavering belief in the limitless possibilities that lie ahead.

If you're ready to embrace growth and would like to explore how I can support you or your organization in achieving your aspirations, feel free to reach out. Let's ignite the fire of authentic existence, turning dreams into reality, and creating a future defined by growth and success.

Together, let us move forward, boldly and fearlessly, towards a brighter future.

“The key is not to prioritize what's on your schedule, but to schedule your priorities.”
— Stephen Covey

"I see dead people..."

Ok, I don't really see dead people. I see people with dead eyes, running around trying to check off boxes on their various to do lists. Busy, busy, busy. But, busy with what...doing what?

It's easy to prioritize things on your schedule that shouldn't be on there to begin with. Or to not clearly define what your priorities are and make sure THAT is what time gets spent on first.

As we end the week, I invite you to focus on what is on your schedule. But do it with intentionality, focusing on the things that ARE priorities and that help define you in the works with authenticity.

“Being affected by the past is not the same as being owned by it.”
~Sarah Coombs

How much is the baggage you are carrying affecting your ability to succeed and thrive today?

We have all been through “some things”. We all have “water cooler stories” about clients that betrayed our trust and loyalty, prospects that strung us along knowing full well that they were never choosing us, co-workers who snaked our deal, bosses who were unprofessional and maybe even downright abusive.

Hell, some of us carry these things around like some kind of badge of courage.

Now, I’m not saying we shouldn’t learn from the past and even process what happened to us in the ways and at the pace that is right for us.

What I am saying is, don’t let it own you. Don’t allow yesterday’s hurts prevent you from taking advantage of today’s opportunities. Even though you may be dented, tainted or even fractured from happened back then, understand that right now, today, you are someone’s best answer to a problem they are facing or someone else’s perfect resource.

Go out there, get after it and be the best you can be “as is”.

Because, it’s good enough. Matter of fact, it’s great.

Have a fantastic day.

“Yesterday I was clever, so I wanted to change the world. Today I am wise, so I am changing myself.”

― Rumi

There are so many gurus, influencers, experts, leaders. Many of them are self appointed or started that way. They can tell you what you should do, what we should as a society, what should occur in a particular industry/vertical/niche. And yet…

Most of them have never done the work. The true work. The walk through the darkness. The painful journey into understanding the self, warts and all. And because they haven’t, their “expertise” vacillates from worthless to hypocritical to delusional to even dangerous.

You want to change the world, leader? Change yourself. Then get back to us. We will be here. Working on ourselves.

Have you given yourself a chance to heal?

We often talk about giving ourselves the grace to heal from bad relationships, bad family issues, etc.

We don't often talk about giving ourselves the space to heal from traumatic work experiences.

Many of us in the business world, and the sales world in particular, have been put through some very hurtful experiences at a job. We've been treated badly, asked to do things contrary to our beliefs or integrity, been ridiculed or meant to feel "less than". And, we've been taught that path is to bounce back, get to that next job or opportunity and leave it in the rear view mirror.

I am asking you today to give yourself the grace to face what you went through and to heal from the experience. Because, if you don't, the trauma will only keep you from success in the present and future.

Always remember: you are worthy, you are enough, you deserve peace and prosperity.

"The beginning is always today."
~MARY WOLLSTONECRAFT

I subscribe to several news letters to aid in keeping my mindset positive, making me think outside of the box, or just exposing me to new ideas or thought processes. The above came to me in one of the newsletters that I received. Oftentimes, what the interpretation of the quote from the corresponding newsletter is will not be what it inspires within me. That is the case with the quote above.

What struck me about the quote is the thought that many times we pick arbitrary dates, events, etc. to use as a starting point for the next thing or the next phase in our life. They are really just excuses to not address what needs to be addressed right now for a lot of us. For others of us, it prevents us from understanding that the moment that we wake up in the morning, still able to get out of bed and start our day, is a new beginning filled with opportunities to create a new path or to double down on the path that we are so committed to.

Here's to our new beginnings.
