This month brought one of those quiet milestones that means more than it probably looks like from the outside.

Concrete is officially in the barn at Thistlevale.

Someday this space will serve as part of our production facility and help carry the winemaking side of the farm forward. But for us, this moment felt bigger than construction alone. After years of dreaming, setbacks, approvals, uncertainty, and persistence, it felt like another step toward permanence — toward building something lasting on this land.

So one random Tuesday morning, we let the kids be a little late for school so we could press our handprints into the corner before the concrete cured.

Just a small reminder that every part of this place is being built by hand, together.

Two weeks ago, something meaningful happened here at Thistlevale.

After more than two years of meetings, conversations, and patience, our township unanimously approved our on-premise tasting room permit. That vote allows our licensing to now move forward with the state.

It may look like just a page of signatures, but to us it represents a long road and a dream we’ve carried for a long time — a small place in the West Michigan countryside where people can gather, share a glass of wine, and slow down together.

The paperwork now moves on to the state, and we’ll keep taking the next steps forward.

Exciting things are ahead. We’re grateful for everyone who has encouraged us along the way.

The first tension wire is in place! 💪🍇 This isn’t just a wire—it’s what anchors our end posts and gives our trellis its backbone. From here, we’ll run wires down the rows to support our vines as they climb and (someday) carry clusters of grapes. Strong vines start with strong support.
