Perform grounds maintenance work activities such as grass cutting, edging, trimming/pruning, and limited landscaping.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Cut grass to specific requirements using, push mowers, riding mowers or tractor mowers with attached shredders.
• Remove grass clippings, trash, debris from work site, and dispose of trash at collection point.
• Use grass/weed trimmer in areas (not accessible to riding or push mowers) such as slopes, canals, ditches, rough terrain, ramps; may be required to clean ramp areas, both over and under.
• Operate backpack blower to clear surfaced areas.
• Trim hedges and shrubs and edge sidewalks, curbs, parking lots, and other surfaces areas.
•Assist in maintaining landscaped areas such as flower-beds, shrubs, and trees, by applying and spreading mulch, top soil or sand; weeding; and preparing the ground for tree planting as needed.
• Remove vines from fenced and maintains fence lines cleared of new growth.
• Clean t***s, working areas, and vehicles; perform basic service maintenance by following manufacturers directions before and after use of all equipment; conduct thorough inspection to assure safe use of equipment.
• Follow all Federal, State, and Agency safe requirements; wear safety equipment; follow the proper use of equipment according to the manufacturers direction; exercise extreme caution when changing directions on slopes to ensure maintaining balance while carrying and operating equipment.
• Provide excellent customer service by greeting, assisting, and responding to questions and/or concerns in a positive, professional, and friendly manner.
REQUIREMENTS
• Experience 6+ months of experience performing similar work.
• Preferred: Basic knowledge of and skilled in using various landscaping hand and power tools.
• Skills: Basic knowledge of grounds maintenance and tools. Driving skills. Reading and comprehension skills.
• Analyze, evaluate situations, and develops alternatives for conflict resolution.
• Knowledge: basic knowledge of grounds maintenance tools and equipment.
• Valid driver license required.
