There is no perfect coach.⚾
Every coach has strengths.
Every coach has weaknesses.
The goal isn’t to find perfection.
The goal is to find someone who:
✔️ Cares about kids
✔️ Teaches the game
✔️ Develops players
✔️ Helps young athletes grow
If you're constantly searching for the "perfect" coach, team, or situation, you'll spend your entire journey frustrated.

Want your son to understand what the next level looks like? ⚾
Go watch it. Take him to a high school game with a legitimate pro prospect and simply observe.
Watch:
✔️ How he carries himself
✔️ How he competes
✔️ How he moves on the field
✔️ How he handles pressure
There’s a reason dozens of scouts show up to watch certain players.
Seeing elite talent in person can be one of the best learning experiences for a young athlete.

One of the saddest things in youth sports? ⚾ Watching adults lose control.
A coach screaming at an umpire. A coach humiliating a player. A coach berating a team after a bad game.
Ask yourself: Is this helping kids love the game?
Youth sports should build:
✔️ Confidence
✔️ Character
✔️ Discipline
✔️ Growth
Kids are always watching how adults behave.
Let's give them something worth learning from.

Parents, college coaches are paying attention to you too. ⚾
One of the first questions they ask:
**"What are his parents like?"**
Yes, talent matters.
But coaches also want to know:
✔️ Are the parents supportive?
✔️ Are they coachable?
✔️ Do they understand the process?
✔️ Are they going to make life easier or harder?

One of my biggest jobs is simple: ⚾
Make sure families are actually enjoying the journey.
Too many parents become obsessed with:
* Results
* Rankings
* Scholarships
* The next level
And before they know it, the fun is gone.
The truth is, this journey is too long and too challenging to spend every day stressed about the destination.
Enjoy the process.
Enjoy your son.
Enjoy the memories you're making together.
Because one day, you'll realize those moments mattered more than the scoreboard ever did.

One of the biggest red flags in sports? ⚾
Being uncoachable.
Some people want to:
✔️ Argue everything
✔️ Fight every opinion
✔️ Debate every correction
✔️ Always be “right”
That mindset destroys growth.
The best players, parents, and coaches stay teachable.
Because once you think you know everything…
You stop improving.

Sometimes parents don’t want the truth. ⚾ They want their son to be the shortstop. They want him to already be “that guy.” But projection matters.
College coaches know what elite middle infielders look like:
✔️ Movement
✔️ Feet
✔️ Arm strength
✔️ Athleticism
Ignoring honest feedback doesn’t help your child.
The parents who grow the most are the ones willing to hear the truth… and then go to work.

One of the biggest problems in youth sports? ⚾
People are trying to teach things they don’t truly understand.
The best coaches stay humble.
They study.
They learn.
They stay coachable.
But the “know-it-alls”?
They try to reinvent everything while ignoring the people who’ve already mastered it.
If a plumber came to fix your sink, you wouldn’t tell him how to do plumbing.
So why do people constantly do that in sports?
Being coachable matters — for parents, players, and coaches.

Parents focus on the wrong things all the time. ⚾ “My son’s batting average has to matter.” “No, it doesn’t.”

“Our travel team wins every game.”
“No, it doesn’t.”

“My son never strikes out.”
“No, it doesn’t.”

And here’s the hardest one for parents:
“I have to motivate my son.”
No, you don’t.
At some point, the player has to show how badly HE wants it.
The parents who constantly push, pressure, and force it usually end up wanting it more than the kid.
