Dream Team Pediatric Sleep Specialist

Dream Team Pediatric Sleep Specialist Dream Team is here to support families through sleep training. Hi! I’m Shanna! I am a Registered Nurse and a Real Estate Agent. Strange combination, I know.

With multiple services, I offer personalized sleep plans, daily follow up, schedules, education on different Sleep Training Methods and biology of sleep for our little ones. First and foremost, I am a wife and a momma to a beautiful baby boy. My passion for sleep started once I found out I was pregnant. I felt like I needed to know everything, right? Google and I became the best of friends and som

etimes the worst of enemies. There was so much information, it completely overwhelmed me. My background as an Obstetric and Newborn Nursery Registered Nurse also fueled me into wanting to help families find their balance with daily schedules, naps and overall sleep. As a first time mother, I found myself wanting to be able to pass on my knowledge to other parents of little ones. I became Certified through The Family Sleep Institute; an extensive six-month sleep training and certification program. Consisting of over 250 hours of education, it is recognized as one of the most in-depth and extensive certifications in the sleep consulting industry. A rested family is a happy family and what we can accomplish and achieve when we are rested is far greater than running on fumes. I look forward to working side by side with you, helping tailor a plan that will assist you in achieving your specific goals. My goal is to prepare your family to communicate and establish sleep plans for your littles ones that fit your individual needs as a family. I cannot express enough how passionate I am about sleep for you, your families and your new baby.

✔️ Remind you that this phase won’t last forever

Every mom deserves that friend who can translate exhausted texts like:

“She’s been awake for 47 minutes and blinked weird. Is this a regression?”

And somehow responds with the perfect combination of reassurance, humor, and “go to bed, girl.” 😂

🚨 5 Reasons Your Baby Is Waking Every Hour 🚨

If you’re exhausted and wondering why your baby seems to be up all night, you’re not alone. Frequent night wakings are one of the most common concerns I hear from parents.

Here are 5 possible reasons your baby is waking every hour:

1️⃣ Overtiredness
It sounds backwards, but an overtired baby often sleeps worse, not better. When babies stay awake too long, their bodies produce stress hormones that can make it harder to fall asleep and stay asleep.

2️⃣ Sleep Associations
If your baby relies on rocking, feeding, bouncing, or being held to fall asleep, they may look for that same support each time they naturally wake between sleep cycles.

3️⃣ Inappropriate Wake Windows
Too much awake time or not enough awake time can both contribute to frequent night wakings.

4️⃣ Hunger or Feeding Patterns
Especially in younger babies, some night wakings may be related to genuine hunger. As babies grow, it’s important to determine whether wakings are feeding-related or habit-related.

5️⃣ An Inconsistent Schedule
Irregular naps, varying bedtimes, and inconsistent wake times can make it difficult for babies to develop predictable sleep patterns.

Here’s what I want you to know: 🤍

Waking every hour is exhausting, but it doesn’t automatically mean something is wrong with your baby.

Most sleep challenges have a reason behind them, and once we identify the root cause, we can create a plan that helps everyone get the rest they need.

You don’t have to keep guessing your way through sleepless nights. 💤

You’re not supposed to dread bedtime. 🤍

You’re not supposed to spend your entire evening anxious about how many times your baby will wake up tonight.

You’re not supposed to feel your chest tighten the second the bedtime routine starts.

You’re not supposed to survive on caffeine, exhaustion, and “just getting through it.”

And you’re definitely not failing because sleep feels hard right now.

So many moms silently suffer through bedtime battles, short naps, false starts, hourly wakings, and complete mental exhaustion believing it’s “just part of motherhood.”

But chronic sleep deprivation affects everything:
✨ Your mental health
✨ Your patience
✨ Your relationship
✨ Your ability to enjoy motherhood
✨ Your entire family dynamic

Sleep support is not selfish.
Wanting rest does not make you a bad mom.

Healthy sleep can completely change the way your family functions and feels. 💤

You deserve peaceful evenings too.

Tiny humans are already taking in so much of the world around them all day long, lights, sounds, screens, activity, stimulation.

That’s why their sleep environment matters more than most parents realize. 🌎🤍

On World Environment Day, let’s talk about creating a calm, peaceful space for sleep.

A low-stimulation sleep environment can help:
✨ decrease overstimulation
✨ support longer, more restorative sleep
✨ help babies fall asleep easier
✨ reduce bedtime battles and frequent wakings

Sometimes better sleep isn’t about doing more.
It’s about simplifying the environment around them.

Think:
🌙 dark room
🤍 consistent sound machine
🌙 cool temperature
🤍 minimal distractions
🌙 predictable bedtime routine

Sleep thrives in calm environments…and so do parents. 🫶

“Their marriage improved after sleep.” 💛

People think baby sleep is just about getting more rest.

But what they don’t realize is how deeply sleep deprivation impacts an entire relationship.

When families come to me, they’re often exhausted in every possible way:
✨ Snapping at each other more
✨ Feeling disconnected
✨ Constantly overstimulated
✨ Barely spending quality time together
✨ Functioning in pure survival mode

And then sleep improves…

Suddenly there’s patience again.
Conversations again.
Laughter again.
Time together again.

Because when you’re no longer waking every hour, everything starts to feel a little lighter.

Better sleep doesn’t just change nights for a baby — it changes the entire atmosphere inside a home. 💤

One of my favorite things is watching families finally feel like themselves again after months of exhaustion.

Rested parents are happier parents. And that matters too. 💛

Wake Windows & Sleep Needs by Age 💡

One of the biggest reasons I see babies and children struggle with sleep?

They’re either staying awake too long... or not long enough.

While every child is different, these are great starting points for wake windows and total sleep needs. Remember: wake windows are only one piece of the puzzle. Sleep cues, temperament, developmental stages, and biological sleep timing all matter too. 🤍

If your little one is fighting naps, waking frequently overnight, or struggling with bedtime, it may not be a behavior issue at all, it could simply be a schedule issue.

Healthy sleep starts with meeting your child’s sleep needs. 💤

Save this post for later and send it to a tired parent who needs it. 💛

To the parent googling sleep schedules at 2am…
To the mom contact napping because it’s the only way anyone rests…
To the dad reheating his coffee for the fourth time today…
To the parents wondering if they’re doing any of this “right”—

You are doing better than you think. 🤍

On Global Day of Parents, this is your reminder that your baby does not need perfection.

They need love.
They need comfort.
They need consistency.
They need you.

Parenthood can feel exhausting, overwhelming, and lonely at times, especially when sleep is hard. But tired does not mean failing.

Every bedtime cuddle, every middle-of-the-night wake up, every moment you show up for your baby… it matters. More than you know.

And if no one has told you lately:
You are a good parent.
Your baby is lucky to have you. 🫶

There is nothing better than hearing a mom say, “I finally feel rested again.” 🤍

This sweet family came to Dream Team Sleep exhausted, discouraged, and struggling through frequent night wakings. Like so many parents, they were doing everything they could, but everyone was running on empty.

By night THREE, they were already seeing huge changes. 💤

Now their little girl is sleeping 12 hours at night, and the difference it’s made for their entire family has been life changing.

Because sleep is never just about sleep.

It’s about:
✨ A mom feeling like herself again
✨ Having patience and energy during the day
✨ Enjoying motherhood instead of just surviving it
✨ A happier, more rested home for everyone

Watching families go from exhaustion and overwhelm to confidence and rest will never get old to me. Thank you for trusting me to walk alongside your family through this journey. 🤍

If you’re currently in the thick of sleepless nights, know this: it does not have to stay this way.

“Do you support attachment parenting?” 🤍

Absolutely.

One of the biggest misconceptions about sleep consulting is that you have to choose between responsive parenting and healthy sleep…and that simply isn’t true.

You can support your child emotionally AND help them develop healthy, independent sleep habits.

At Dream Team Sleep, my approach is never one-size-fits-all. Every family, every baby, and every parenting style is different. My goal is to support YOU while helping your little one get the restorative sleep they need to grow and thrive.

Responsive parenting does not mean you have to live in complete exhaustion forever.

You are allowed to:
✨ Want more sleep
✨ Need support
✨ Set healthy routines
✨ Help your baby learn new sleep skills
✨ Prioritize your mental health too

Sleep is not the enemy of attachment. 🤍

In fact, rested families often feel more connected, patient, present, and able to truly enjoy motherhood again. 💤

Summer is full of later nights, vacations, sunshine, pool days, and ALL the fun… but it can also completely throw off your little one’s sleep if you’re not careful. 😵‍💫

Here are a few ways to protect sleep while still enjoying your summer:

✨ Keep wake-up time consistent
Sleeping in sounds tempting, but a consistent morning wake time helps keep naps and bedtime on track.

✨ Don’t skip naps all summer long
One off day won’t ruin sleep but repeatedly skipping naps can quickly lead to overtiredness and bedtime battles.

✨ Earlier bedtime after busy days
Pool days, travel, sunshine, and extra stimulation are exhausting for little ones. Earlier bedtimes can help prevent overtired meltdowns.

✨ Bring sleep comforts on the go
Portable sound machine, blackout cover, favorite sleep sack, lovey, etc. Familiar sleep cues help so much while traveling.

✨ Protect independent sleep habits when possible
Summer schedules can get chaotic fast. Keeping some consistency helps prevent sleep struggles from sn*******ng.

✨ Watch for overtiredness
Summer fun + late nights = overtired babies and toddlers who suddenly fight sleep HARD.

The goal isn’t perfection. 🤍
It’s balance.

You can absolutely enjoy summer memories AND support healthy sleep at the same time.
