Our Non-Profit of the month of June is...

Youth and Shelter Services!

"Empowering Iowa youth for 50 years, YSS provides shelter, counseling, and life skills programs to help children and young adults build brighter futures."

Wow!! Our customers donated a total of $5,000 to Friends of Slater Public Library last month!

This is our biggest non-profit of the month check so far, and it didn't happen by accident.

The library:
- had a drop site where patrons could leave bags of cans
- did a citywide can drive where they collected cans from your doorstep
- had two very generous donors match every dollar raised

It was a lot of work but it paid off! Thanks to everyone who participated!

Reminder that our summer hours start tomorrow!
Tuesday-Friday: 10am-12:30pm and 1pm-5pm
Saturday: 8am-11:30 am and 12pm to 2pm

Exciting News!! We will be extending our hours this summer to 5pm on weekdays, starting May 30th!
We will also be closing the shop 30 minutes a day for employee lunch breaks. Our summer hours look like this.
Tuesday-Friday
10 am to 12:30pm - 1:00 pm to 5pm
Saturday
8 am to 11:30 am - 12 pm to 2:00 pm

Over the weekend, a generous community member reached out and asked to match the first $1,500 donated to this month's nonprofit, Friends of the Slater Public Library.

So now, every dollar of cans you donate this month actually becomes $2 to help the library fund a new building.

This is a first for us, so let's take advantage of it! Who knows, maybe it will become a trend😄

Story Theater company!

"Story Theater Company is a non-profit, 501(c)3 organization founded in 2006 that offers quality theatrical opportunities for area children. STC teaches the fundamentals of theater in a welcoming environment that encourages self-confidence, responsibility, teamwork, and inclusion of all.

STC provides educational theater workshops, events, and summer camps for ages 5 to 18; three full-scale theater productions performed at Ames City Auditorium; and an annual production just for teens."
