The River Valley Veterans Network gathered last night at Beaverdale VFW Post 9127, and the room was alive with connection.
Conversations flowed — resources shared, opportunities explored — but the real highlight was the deepening sense of tribe, belonging, and community that makes these gatherings so meaningful.
We welcomed more than a dozen first‑time visitors, giving them a firsthand look at what an incredible organization Post 9127 is. Mike set the tone with a great rundown of the VFW’s inviting atmosphere — Veterans supporting Veterans, leading the community forward.
We were also fortunate to hear from Chad with the Reserve Component Transition Assistance Advisor Program, who shared updates on the programs he’s bringing across Iowa to support returning Guard Members with transition services.
thanks to Kevin and Jamie for talking about Veteran Career Services at each IowaWORKS office as well as Home Base Iowa programs and services!
A huge thank‑you to our sponsors, The Weitz Company — John (and mini John!) and Megan — for showing up, leaning in, and helping make the room feel like home. And appreciation to Brad for bringing information on Laborers' Local 177 — excellent opportunities for members of our community.
Next up: our June gathering in Ames at Torrent Brewing Company on June 17th.
Looking forward to keeping this momentum going and welcoming even more Veterans, families, and supporters into the network.
