Power Up for College Success

Power Up for College Success A one-credit program for first-year students entering UMass Amherst.

Students will learn the skills that lead to success in college, move into their dorm early, and earn 1 credit! 2016 dates: August 31-September 2

Come to campus two days before fall orientation and settle into your residence hall room ahead of the move-in rush. During the two-and-a-half day Power Up course you will become familiar with UMass and learn strategies and skills (i.e., college-level rea

ding, writing, note-taking, test-taking, and time management) that will give you a leg up on
your college experience. Because Power Up classes are small, no larger than 22, you’ll have a network
of friends even before classes start. After the Power Up program, you will seamlessly transition into the fall first-year student orientation, with one credit already earned toward graduation and with the knowledge and confidence to maximize your success at UMass.

Power Up scholarships are now open! Apply by July 14th for a chance to have the full cost of the program covered.
