Our fiber internet service is currently experiencing intermittent issues for some customers. Staff are working closely with our network equipment supplier to restore stable service as quickly as possible.

If you are experiencing issues, please try restarting your fiber equipment:

• Unplug power from your modem (if you have one) and your router or mesh system
• Wait about 10 seconds
• Plug the modem and router/mesh system back in

Service should return within approximately 2–5 minutes.

If service has not returned after the posted time frame, please check the fiber landing page for status updates. If you still do not have service, call 360-588-8300 and select option 2.

In some areas of Anacortes, the City’s Fiber Internet Service is experiencing intermittent issues.

Staff are working closely with our network equipment supplier to troubleshoot and resolve things. But, the equipment is complex and finding a root cause of what’s happening is incredibly challenging.

For example, the last two nights we reset some equipment which caused momentarily stopped service in some areas, cleared the problem we had been experiencing, and appears to have caused yet a different problem. Hopeful, but frustrating!

We will be ordering and deploying a new piece of equipment, but do not yet have an ETA on when that equipment will be delivered and ready for installation.

If you experience an issue with your service, we suggest two things:

• First, check out the following area of the City’s website for our current status and some steps you can take in your home or business: https://www.anacorteswa.gov/2076/Scheduled-Maintenance

• Second, you can call our help desk at 360-588-8300 twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. A technician will assist you.

At 12:00 AM Monday, April 27th, Access Anacortes Fiber Internet will be conducting scheduled maintenance. This work is expected to take up to 1 hour and will result in a temporary internet service interruption for all customers.
Once maintenance is complete, your modem and router should automatically reconnect.
If your service has not resumed by 2:00 AM, please follow these steps:
1. Unplug the power cord from your modem and router.
2. Wait a few seconds.
3. Plug them back in.

We want to share that we’re making good progress in resolving the intermittent connectivity issue affecting some customers. The problem is related to our DHCP server, which assigns IP addresses to devices on the network.

The good news is: powering off and then powering on your modem and router is helping many customers restore service. If you're still experiencing an outage, please try the steps below to get back online:

Power off and then power on both your city-provided modem and your router or Wi-Fi device (whether it's from the city or your own).

If your city-provided device says “Gateway 3” on the bottom, that’s the only device you need to power off and on.

City-provided equipment is labeled “Nokia.”

After powering the device(s) back on, wait about five minutes. Your service should be restored.

This issue does not affect customers with static IP addresses and is only impacting some, not all, users.

Internet Connectivity Notice

We are aware of an intermittent connectivity issue affecting some customers on our network. This issue is related to our DHCP server, which dynamically assigns IP addresses. When the server does not assign an IP address correctly, affected devices cannot connect to the internet.

Important Notes:

This issue does not impact customers using static IP addresses.

Not all customers are affected; the issue is intermittent and only impacts some users.

If you are experiencing an internet outage, please follow these steps to help restore your service more quickly:

Power off and then power on both your city-provided modem and your router or Wi-Fi device (whether it's from the city or your own).

If your city-provided device says “Gateway 3” on the bottom, that’s the only device you need to power off and on.

City-provided equipment is labeled “Nokia.”

Some customers are finding success by taking these steps. We know that this is not the case for all customers.
