🚨 CAN YOU SPOT A FAKE? BECAUSE THIS ONE GOT ME. 🚨

Take a good look at this watch. 👀⌚

At first glance, it looks like a TAG Heuer Carrera. It says TAG Heuer. It says Swiss Made. It has a model number and serial number on the back. The chronograph buttons even move some of the smaller dials.

And I overpaid for it at an estate sale.

Yep. I should have slowed down, looked closer, and done more homework before handing over the money. That’s on me.

But here’s where I think this gets interesting…

What responsibility does an estate sale company have when selling something that appears to be a luxury item but turns out not to be authentic?

Is it simply buyer beware?

Should something like this have been clearly marked REPLICA / NOT AUTHENTIC?

Or could someone defend it as basically costume or fashion jewelry and say the buyer should know what they’re buying?

As someone in the estate sale business myself, I’ll tell you where Okie Estate & Auction Company stands:

👉 I don’t approve of knowingly passing a fake off as the real thing. Period.

We aren’t going to know everything about every item that comes through an estate—that’s impossible. And buyers absolutely need to do their own research, especially on expensive purchases.

But when we’re unsure about authenticity, I’d much rather say we’re unsure than let someone believe they’re buying something we know it may not be.

This one cost me some money, but it also gave me a pretty good reminder:

When the price is based on the NAME on the item, authenticity matters.

WHEN YOU FINALLY CLEAN THE CHANGE OUT OF YOUR CAR… 🪙😂

So I finally gathered it all up and started sorting through the quarters…

And MAN… 👀

WHY couldn’t I have found THIS when silver was pushing $100 an ounce?! 😂💰
