Before judging someone's behavior, it may be worth asking: "What might I not know?"
We see people's actions, but we don't always see the experiences, cultural influences, fears, values, assumptions, or circumstances behind them. A little curiosity can prevent a great deal of unnecessary judgment.
Sometimes understanding begins when we recognize that our perspective is only one perspective. That's one of the central ideas behind my book, “Hidden Filters.”
