🚒❤️ HELP US WELCOME OUR NEWEST JUNIOR FIREFIGHTER — BRYLEIGH BROWN! ❤️🚒

Some people are born into the first responder family, and Bryleigh is one of them! Growing up surrounded by the Anahuac EMS family, she has seen firsthand what it means to serve others, show up when people need you, and be part of something bigger than yourself. Now, she’s getting to be part of that tradition herself at Smith Point Fire Department!

Bryleigh is CPR certified, and if you’ve been to an Anahuac football game on a Friday night, you’ve probably seen her on the sidelines doing her thing as a Sports Athletic Trainer! 🏈

You’ll also start seeing her around our fire department events, so don’t be surprised when you spot her face riding on the fire truck! 🚒👋

Bryleigh will be focusing on assisting with medical calls alongside her mom, continuing to learn, gain experience, and serve the community she has grown up in.

We are proud to welcome her to the Smith Point Fire Department family and can’t wait to watch her grow in this role. The future of our first responder family is looking bright! ❤️

When something goes wrong at three in the morning out in the county, the person who comes for you is probably not on the clock. 🚒

Most of the fire departments in this state are staffed by volunteers. Texas has well over a thousand departments, and the large majority of them are volunteer or close to it, which means the people who show up have day jobs. They weld, they teach, they farm, they run the parts counter. The pager goes off during supper, or during a birthday party, or at four in the morning in February, and they get up and drive to the station and go.

They pay for a good deal of it themselves too. The barbecue plate sale and the boot drive at the intersection are not quaint small town color, they are how a department buys turnout gear and keeps a brush truck running another season. In plenty of counties the nearest paid department is forty minutes away, so the volunteers are not a supplement to the system. They are the system. 🧯

If you live outside the city limits, somebody you nod to at the feed store has probably already been to your house on the worst day of your life.

🚒 DELIVERED IN TIME TO REMEMBER! 🚒

Smith Point Volunteer Fire Department has officially taken delivery of a new tanker/pumper truck to help us continue serving the community of Smith Point and supporting our neighboring communities throughout Chambers County.

This truck is more than just a piece of equipment — it represents our commitment to being prepared, protecting lives and property, and being there when our community needs us most.

Our first stop with the new truck was a visit to Anahuac National Bank to personally thank them for partnering with the Smith Point Volunteer Fire Department and helping make it possible to bring this much-needed apparatus to our department. We also cannot go with saying thanks to Jeri's Oysters for all their support and the Water Tender Grant from Texas A&M Forest Service

We are incredibly grateful for the businesses, organizations, and community members who continue to invest in our volunteer firefighters and the communities we serve.

New truck. Same volunteers. Same commitment to serve. 🇺🇸🚒

We are keeping the family of our constable in our thoughts and prayers.

“Today is a difficult day for Chambers County. Constable John Mulryan passed away this morning after a long battle with cancer.

Those of us who were fortunate enough to know John knew just how special he was. He was a pillar of this community and a gentle giant who was loved by so many. To me, and to so many of us at the Sheriff’s Office, he was more than a fellow peace officer, he was a true servant. We will always remember his kind heart and the love he had for his community.

To his family and friends, our hearts are with you. We are deeply sorry for your loss, and we thank you for the sacrifices you made so that John could spend so much of his life serving others. Thank you for sharing him with us and for standing beside him while he continuously helped everyone in this community. We will never forget the man he was, and we will forever be proud to call him our friend.

In just a couple of days, we’ll be able to show our community exactly what their support of our department does and what a strong partnership with the U.S. Forest Service can accomplish.

We are incredibly excited to be bringing this new equipment to Smith Point and to Chambers County as a whole. This is an investment that will make a difference for our department, our firefighters, and the communities we serve for many years to come.

None of this would be possible without the continued support of our community and the partnerships that help make these improvements a reality.

This week, Chief White and Firefighter Lopez dedicated their time to expanding their knowledge and strengthening their skills through professional training while staying current with the latest NFPA standards.

We are proud to congratulate Firefighter Lopez on successfully earning his Firefighter I Certification and Chief White on completing the Incident Safety Officer certification. These accomplishments reflect their commitment to providing the highest level of service and safety to the citizens of the Smith Point community.

We would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to our partners in the grant program whose support helps make continuing education possible for small volunteer fire departments like ours. Your investment allows us to continue growing, learning, and serving our community more effectively.
