In March 2026, DPS Troopers in Southeast Texas investigated a total of 30 fatal crashes, including 32 deaths - 11 of which the occupants were not wearing a seatbelt.

Behind every number is a family forever changed, a loved one missed, and a life cut short too soon.

Slow down. Stay off your phone. Wear your seatbelts. Never drive impaired.

While these crashes remain under investigation, they are a sobering reminder of how important it is to stay attentive and make safe, responsible choices behind the wheel.

Prayers going up for our neighboring department. This is a strong reminder to move over, slow down and pay attention.

As the weather gets warmer be aware, be safe:

🐍🦂 NATIONAL POISON PREVENTION WEEK

Here in Texas, we share our environment with some incredible—but potentially dangerous—venomous animals like rattlesnakes, copperheads, coral snakes, scorpions, and many more.

⚠️ Stay safe with these tips:
Watch where you step, especially outdoors or in tall grass
Shake out shoes, gloves, and clothing before wearing
Keep a safe distance—never try to handle wildlife
Teach kids to recognize and avoid unfamiliar animals

If bitten or stung, stay calm and seek medical help immediately. Prevention is the best protection. Respect wildlife, stay aware, and keep yourself and your family safe!

We appreciate the support, teamwork, and long hours put in by all responding agencies and personnel.

Please use caution if traveling along FM 562 today, as Texas Forest Service crews will be in the area conducting fire surveys and assessments.
