Chief Homer Huff has always told us, our fire department is like family. We take that to heart. Today members of Anchor Fire were well represented at the wedding of one of our own. We were blessed to be able to attend this celebration of these two amazing people. Tristan we are very proud and happy for you and Lexi’s wedding. We hope for many happy and love filled years!!!! The Anchor Fire Department had the opportunity to participate in a live training burn. Hands on training that included pump operations, shuttling water, smoke and fire behavior, and interior attack. It was a great experience and a big thank you to Ellsworth Fire Protection District for inviting us.

*** EXTREME HEAT WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL MIDNIGHT CDT THURSDAY NIGHT ***

* WHAT...Dangerously hot conditions with heat index values 105 to
110.

* WHERE...All of central and southeast Illinois.

* WHEN...Until midnight CDT Thursday Night.

* IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during
extreme heat and high humidity events.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car
interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.

Good morning everyone, I’ll start out by saying it is a HOT ONE.
A few good tips for handling extreme heat situations.
If you can limit time outside.
Drink plenty of fluids. Water electrolytes the works.
Now as tempting as it may seem, if you are in need of fluids do not chug ice cold water. This mixture in body temp will send you into shock closer to room or body temp the better. Stay safe!!!

Power outages are rising quickly due to a line of severe storms. The counties shaded in dark red & peach are most affected at the moment, or is expected to be over the next two hours.

9:55 AM – growing concerned about the cluster of storms around the Lincoln area as it begins to surge east. This will likely be the source for potentially significant wind gust in the next few hours. Stay weather aware.

8:16a - This surging line of storms is moving SE generally towards our area.

As I watch, I do have some suspicion that this may be more of a SE mover than ESE mover, so this means Springfield, Decatur, Taylorville and Shelbyville should ALSO watch for 80mph+ gusts.

Essentially if you're in the WCIA 3 area, pay attention today. Round #1 on the way, round #2 to follow.

TORNADO RISK: We're at a 9, and we've stretched the area to include a vast majority of our WCIA area.

Tornadoes and 80-100 mph possible with round #1, significant tornadoes also on the table for round #2.
