Annabelle Slinker is helping shape the future for thousands of military-connected youth across the country.

As Alaska's National Guard Youth Council Ambassador and a Region Delegate, Annabelle represents more than 20,000 National Guard children. She advocates with military leaders, mentors younger students and champions athletes with disabilities.

Annabelle also was part of a team that successfully advocated to remove plastic glitter from Anchorage classrooms, helping reduce microplastic pollution while encouraging more sustainable classroom practices.

Whether she's influencing national conversations or creating change in her own community, Annabelle leads with purpose and compassion. We're proud to recognize Annabelle as a 2026 Summer of Heroes honoree.

Some leaders don't seek recognition. They simply step in wherever they're needed. That’s where you’ll find Alex Olson.

Whether he's helping elders, volunteering at community events, supporting Tribal traditions or mentoring younger students, Alex has become someone his Nenana community can count on.

One of Alex's most meaningful contributions is helping families dig graves for loved ones who have passed away. His willingness to step in, often in difficult weather and even at the expense of his own free time, has helped ensure loved ones can be laid to rest with dignity.

His quiet commitment to serving others reminds us that leadership is measured by actions, not attention.

For Tessa Davis, justice isn't about punishment. It's about helping young people rewrite their stories.

Through Kodiak Teen Court, Tessa helped young people take responsibility, rebuild trust and move forward through restorative justice. Along the way, she's organized statewide conferences, led fundraising efforts and mentored the next generation of student leaders.

When difficult education funding decisions threatened opportunities for students in Kodiak, Tessa stepped forward as an advocate, speaking up for her peers and helping ensure student voices were part of the conversation.

This summer, Tessa took that passion for public service all the way to Washington, D.C., where she completed an internship with U.S. Senator Lisa Murkowski. From advocating for students in Kodiak to gaining firsthand experience in our nation's capital, Tessa continues to find new ways to learn, lead and make her voice count.

Whether she's leading in the courtroom, her community or on Capitol Hill, Tessa shows that the strongest leaders are those who stand up for others when it matters most.

We're honored to recognize her as a 2026 Summer of Heroes honoree.

Summer on the Kenai Peninsula is a busy season, but members of our Soldotna team still made time to give back.

An employee group recently packed backpacks filled with school supplies for the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Kenai Peninsula. Before long, these backpacks will help kiddos head back to school feeling prepared and confident.

We're proud to support local nonprofits and thankful for team members who are always ready to lend a hand.

When a vehicle carrying an oversized load struck our communications lines in Sitka on Friday, July 31, internet and phone service was disrupted for local customers.

Restoring service after an incident like this requires coordination across multiple teams and the expertise of highly trained telecommunications technicians. Among them was field technician Jacob, who spent long days throughout the weekend and into the week repairing extensive damage and helping reconnect the community. Jacob is highly skilled, having received his training through the Alaska Electrical Apprenticeship program.

Jacob's efforts, along with those of many across ACS, showcase the dedication of the people who keep Alaska connected. Thank you to everyone who worked tirelessly to restore service for our customers.
