Much like this article argues, I've found that a "save-the-planet" rationale isn't always persuasive.

Most individuals and businesses are only inclined to invest in climate-friendly technology if it promises noticeable cost savings or impresses them with exceptional design or outstanding performance.

Additionally, as economics continue to tip in favor renewables, energy storage, and other 'climate-tech', the jobs will follow.

“Political messaging and press announcements" will not convince anyone, Jason Walsh, executive director of the BlueGreen Alliance, a partnership of unions and environmental groups, said. “But a paycheck might.”

A broad, and sometimes quixotic, retail effort to win the fight against global warming is playing out one person at a time, with nary a mention of climate change.

What has over 200,000 pounds of steel, 14,400 solar panels, over 40 miles of wires, and hundreds of thousands of nuts and bolts?

The largest solar farm in Alaska, projected to almost double the solar energy output in the state!

Named the Houston Solar Farm, this 8.5-megawatt facility will soon be operational, generating enough energy to power around 1,400 homes.

An increasing number of residential solar installations are also boosting supply in Matanuska Electric Association’s service area, and across Southcentral as well.

A hybrid-electric Cessna 337 Skymaster, developed by portfolio company , successfully landed in Fairbanks on August 13th after a 3,400-mile journey from Southern California, marking the farthest north any hybrid-electric aircraft has flown.

This pioneering flight funded by 's showcases progress in electrified aviation, with the aircraft being the first to receive airworthiness approvals from both the US and Canadian authorities.

Offering 50-70% fuel cost savings and an anticipated 25-50% in maintenance cost reductions, the initiative underscores the potential of electrified air travel in .

“Alaska is well-known for its innovation and discovery, so it’s fitting that this groundbreaking hybrid-electric flight made history in Alaska,” said Erin Whitney, director of the .

The first hybrid-electric aircraft ever in Alaska landed in Fairbanks to complete a 3,400-mile journey from California.

The best part of this article are the quotes:

On oil & gas states investing in clean energy:
"...we also understand that energy is energy, whether it is generated by wind, steam or whatever it might be.”

On the record low prices for solar panels:
“And all of those incremental improvements add up to something very dramatic.”

On the amount of renewables being added to the grid:
“We’re seeing the nonlinear change happen before us...”

On driving an electric vehicle in Oklahoma:
“My fuel cost is equivalent to getting 200 miles a gallon on gasoline...”

On vehicle electrification:
“It is not a red-state, blue-state thing... It is a national phenomenon.”

On GM committing to selling only zero-emissions vehicles:
"[It's a] once-in-a-generation inflection point”

The United States is pivoting away from fossil fuels and toward wind, solar and other renewable energy, even in areas dominated by the oil and gas industries.

In today's rapidly evolving business landscape, there's a recognizable spark, a kinetic energy that drives the world's most successful companies.

This spark is innovation and the agents of change are very often startups.

My mission is to bridge the audacious creativity of startups with the robust structure of established businesses.

In the remote riverfront village of Igiugig, , innovative efforts are underway to shift from expensive diesel fuel reliance to renewable energy

The small village of about 60 people, unconnected to the regional electric grid, teamed up with from Maine to deploy a hydrokinetic turbine - similar to a wind turbine - to harness the flow of the river to generate power.

This year, Igiugig will upgrade the device, aiming to further cut down its diesel usage.

Jonathan Salmon of the hopes this sustainable transition can serve as a blueprint for other remote communities seeking affordable energy solutions.

In a pioneering move for the fishing industry, Sitka, Alaska launched of one of its first low-emissions commercial fishing vessels named "I Gotta".

Powered by a distinctive parallel hybrid battery-diesel system, the vessel can alternate between diesel for high speeds and an electric motor for fishing, achieving an impressive 80% reduction in fuel consumption.

This monumental stride is the result of collaborative efforts initiated by the (ALFA) who partnered with the and via the 's Energy Transitions Initiative Partnership Project (ETIPP).

Beyond a singular vessel, ALFA's broader ambition is to spur decarbonization throughout its fleet. Sitka's community, driven by its commitment to sustainability, intends to leverage local expertise in low-emissions propulsion systems, fostering a decarbonized maritime industry.

With help from commercial vehicle researchers from the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), a small commercial salmon troller named I Gotta will soon make history as one of the first low-emissions fishing vessels ever deployed in Alaska.
