AVI is beginning to upload 7 modules on composting over the next month. The first module is an overview of composting, and then we get into specifics, including Compost Basics, Choosing and Building a System, Ingredients and Ratios, Monitoring and Troubleshooting, and an overall Summary
This hands-on program helps Alaskan communities start or strengthen compost projects suited to cold climates. Participants learn to assess local food waste, select appropriate systems, and troubleshoot issues such as odors and wildlife while building community engagement. Composting keeps nutrients local, reduces landfill emissions, and supports resilient, locally grown food.
