My students have built million-dollar care businesses using the same process I teach inside my programs.

And no, it didn’t start with buying a house.

Here’s the process 👇

1️⃣ Choose your business model + funding source.
Are you opening a Group Home? Licensed Assisted Living? Providing community-based services? How will you get paid? Start with the model and the numbers.

2️⃣ Make time to actually build it.
If you’re working full-time, block out 5–10 hours a week and treat that time like an appointment you can’t cancel.

3️⃣ Figure out your funding.
You don’t necessarily need to use all of your own money, but you DO need a plan for accessing the funds your model requires.

4️⃣ Build your team.
Are you going to provide the care yourself? Hire caregivers? Bring on a manager? You don’t need a huge team on day one, but you need to know who is doing what.

5️⃣ Set your launch date and reverse engineer it.
6 months. 12 months. Even 24 months.

Pick the date, write it down, and work backward so you know what needs to happen next.

The people you see winning in this industry didn’t wake up one morning with a million-dollar business.

They followed a process, built one step at a time, and kept going.

If I had to start over today, I'd follow these exact steps.

1️⃣ Choose your model and funding source

Before anything else, decide:
• What type of care business are you starting?
• How will you get paid?
• Private pay?
• State-funded services?

Everything starts with understanding your numbers.

2️⃣ Make time for it

Most people don't fail because they aren't capable.

They fail because they never create dedicated time to build the business.

Block off 5–10 hours per week and treat it like a second job until it becomes your first.

3️⃣ Secure funding

No, this doesn't necessarily mean using your own money.

Depending on the model, people use:
• Savings
• Partnerships
• Leasing
• Business funding options

The key is having access to capital—not necessarily providing all of it yourself.

4️⃣ Build your team

Will you be the caregiver?

Will you hire staff?

Will you have a house manager?

You don't need a huge team to get started, but these decisions will shape how your business operates.

5️⃣ Create your launch plan

Give yourself a timeline.

6 months.
12 months.
24 months.

Write it down.

Then reverse engineer the steps needed to get there.

Most people overcomplicate starting.

Successful providers focus on the next step, then the next one after that.
