ASCI’s Rosita Nadezhdina Johnson was recently quoted in an article from Alaska Business examining warehouse automation, labor shortages, and the balance between technology, efficiency, and people.

For Alaska employers, that conversation comes with some unique challenges. As Rosita shared, finding qualified warehouse employees can be difficult, and in an environment with forklifts, ladders, heavy materials, and constant movement, safety has to remain a priority.
Automation can help improve efficiency and reduce certain risks, but it is only one piece of the logistics puzzle.

That bigger picture is also what led ASCI to develop the Alaska Logistics Cost Index. After reviewing nearly 2,000 shipments, we are taking a closer look at the real costs behind moving goods to and throughout Alaska, and what those costs mean for businesses operating here.

From labor and warehousing to transportation and the final mile, understanding the numbers helps us have better conversations about Alaska’s supply chain.

🔥 It’s Fire Prevention Week!

A few simple precautions can make a big difference when it comes to fire safety. Checking smoke alarms, reviewing your family’s escape plan, practicing safe cooking habits, and being aware of potential hazards are all important steps toward staying prepared.

At ASCI, we believe safety and preparedness are responsibilities we all share - at work, at home, and throughout our communities.
