If you want the details: Stephen R. Braund & Associates (SRB&A), an Anchorage-based applied anthropology consulting firm is seeking to hire an anthropologist for immediate employment. SRB&A has been operating as an anthropological consulting firm specializing in scientific subsistence and ethnographic research in Alaska since 1978.
This is a full-time temporary position that requires an individual who is capable of working as part of a team, who can travel frequently to conduct field work in villages throughout Alaska, and who can participate in the analysis and reporting of ethnographic data. This position calls for a flexible and open-minded person who enjoys traveling and discussing topics important to rural Alaskans such as subsistence hunting and fishing, wildlife, traditional knowledge, environmental issues, and the impacts of development. Attention to detail is a must!
Pay rate will be based on individual qualifications and experience; this position could lead to permanent employment.
Applicants should have a minimum of six months experience working in Alaska. Some exceptions may be made for applicants that can demonstrate experience comparable with the level of work required. Candidates will be expected to conduct cultural/ethnographic fieldwork throughout Alaska.

Desired Experience
• A Bachelor’s degree in cultural anthropology, ethnography, socio-economics, or a closely related field is necessary.
• A Master’s degree in cultural anthropology, ethnography, socio-economics, or a closely related field is desired.
• Experience with conducting ethnographic interviews, literature reviews, analysis, and report and EIS preparation is preferred.
• Familiarity with Alaska rural issues, arctic and subarctic subsistence activities and concerns, cultural landscapes, and traditional cultural property research is also beneficial.
