Taking a break from rebuilding my very out-of-date website to go for a walk with the tot on my back. Because sometimes the best business strategy is… touching grass. 😂

And honestly? I will never get tired of the sound of leaves underfoot.

Art is rebellion.
Art is alignment.
And sometimes, art is a chair you can carry into the mountains.

Rachel Pohl has taken her art and turned it into something wonderfully useful through her collaboration with Crazy Creek Chairs—because apparently we can bring beauty with us into the backcountry. 💜

Ever want to sit down and read a book while you’re on the trail?

That’s the kind of hiking I love.

There have been seasons of my life when I could bag several peaks in a day. And there have been seasons that slowed me way down.

In those slower seasons, having a beautiful, lightweight chair like this has given me permission to change the goal.

Maybe I’m not summiting today.
Maybe I’m sitting halfway up the mountain, reading a book, drinking something warm, staring at the view, and calling that the adventure.

Because sometimes changing the goal is exactly what creates the peace and happiness a slower season needs—and sometimes that is much harder to find than another summit.

We have been out and have enjoyed a few good mushrooms this fall! Along the lakeside trail and up Twin Peaks Trail you can find lots of fun-guys.

Don't sleep through the best mushroom foraging season - FALL!

Foragers on the Tongass enjoy winter chanterelles, golden chanterelles, chicken-of-the-woods, hedgehogs, and bear's head tooth fungus to name a few.

When you head out into the forest to find your favorites, PLEASE be sure to carefully identify the fungi you gather.

Alaskan Glamping at Alaska State Fair. An incredible feeling to know you can go from your concert to a tent set up for you. No driving in fair traffic at 10pm.
Even better! Show up the night before wake up to an empty fair ground and enjoy watching the place come to life!

August 21st. The Alaska State Fair is in full swing the next couple of weeks. We have Fair time openings. After a day at the Fair you can decompress at Alaskan Glamping.

We have a 10 place Primitive Camping and RV parking camp area. The tables left alot to be desired after many years of service so we reached out to the community and got wood fasteners and paint donated. I did a big push on my own to put in the labor to fix 6 of the tables this spring and other community members and guests have contributed time and tools to make these tables new again.
