The story behind each oriental rug is fascinating to me!
This morning, we received a Turkish rug. The proud owner once lived in Turkey. She lived in a little town where she watched them weave the rugs. She watched her own rugs being hand woven by the Turkish women. The time and love that goes into each rug, each design, and every little detail is amazing!

In Exodus 35:35 “Them hath he filled with wisdom of heart, to work all manner of work, of the engraver, and of the cunning workman, and of the embroiderer, in blue, and in purple, in scarlet, and in fine linen, and of the weaver, even of them that do any work, and of those that devise cunning work.”

STEP 8: FRINGLE DETAILING
Once rugs are completely dried, the fringe is specially cleaned and fluffed to restore their brightness and beauty!

STEP 7: DRY
Drying is accomplished as the rugs are hanging with heat, air-movement, and/or dehumidification. Drying takes place in 24 hrs or less.

STEP 6: HAND BRUSHED & GROOMED
This is done to restore the natural pile lay prior to drying the rug. After the rug has quit dripping topical treatments such as micro seal, scotchgard & moth proofing can be applied!

WASH CYCLE
In any cleaning process the first ingredient into a rug is the last ingredient out. This is why we first totally immersed the rugs in cold, soft water. After fibers have taken as much water as possible, rugs are agitated with a wool safe, mild alkali cleaner!

In any cleaning process the first ingredient into a rug is the last ingredient out. This is why we first totally immersed the rugs in cold, soft water. After fibers have taken as much water as possible, rugs are agitated with a wool safe, mild alkali cleaner. Rugs are then rinsed with fresh water together with air creating a “Jacuzzi” affect.

The next step in our cleaning process is to test for dye migration/bleeding. This requires placing an absorbent cloth on top of a small area after it has been treated with neutral detergent solution. If dye transfers to the cloth, the rug needs to be set aside and processed more carefully and treated with a special dye fixing agent!

At Pacific Coast Rugs we have a 9 step cleaning process.
After the first step of inspection the second and one of the most important is air dusting. This removes dry, bulk soils. Removing soil while it's dry is more efficient then removing wet soil or mud.
