Sierra Pacific Industries

Sierra Pacific Industries Fourth-Generation, Family-Owned Forest Products Company SPI owns and manages more than 2.4 million acres of forestland in California, Oregon and Washington.

Sierra Pacific Industries is a third-generation, family-owned forest products company committed to managing its lands in a responsible and sustainable manner to protect the environment while providing quality wood products and renewable power for consumers. The expertise of our professional foresters and natural resource specialists assures that wildlife habitat, water quality, and other forest va

lues are protected. Harvesting trees is much different than it was 50 or 100 years ago – today we employ modern forest management practices that closely mimic natural forest events. Technology has dramatically improved, and with it, our ability to monitor forest conditions and minimize our impact on the environment. We have invested in state-of-the-art equipment to optimize every fiber of each tree, and we are a certified participant in the independent Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) to help ensure our forests are here for generations to come.

Private working forests support rural prosperity. They also support 3.9 million jobs and
provide $284 billion in wages across rural America. These forests help sustain the communities that
depend on them. At Sierra Pacific, we are proud of our rural roots and our 6,800+ crew members that call these communities home.

Sierra Pacific joined The California Forest Foundation, CAL FIRE and our industry partners to bring state legislators in Chester for a two-day tour focused on the impacts of the Dixie Fire and the work underway to restore forest health.

Along the way, we highlighted how active forest management—like fuel breaks, prescribed fire, thinning, reforestation, and investments in mills and biomass—helps reduce wildfire risk and support resilient, working forests.

Visits like this matter. Seeing these efforts firsthand helps policymakers better understand how sustainable forestry protects our forests, supports rural communities, and helps reduce the risk of future wildfires.

It starts with a seedling, but the impact lasts for decades. More than 1 billion seedlings are planted across the U.S. every year, investing in the next generation of forests through a continuous cycle of planting, growth, harvesting, and replanting.
At SPI, we planted over 10 million seedlings across our forestlands in 2025. It’s good for forests, the environment, and the communities that depend on both.

At Sierra Pacific, our success is driven by the dedication and hard work of our incredible crew members. Every quarter, we feature a Spotlight on Success story in our company newsletter. This feature highlights those with exceptional character and who consistently go above and beyond.
This fall marks 25 years for Joseph Cheney at Sierra Pacific’s Anderson Division.
Starting as a laborer in the Planer Department, Joseph worked his way up through determination and continuous learning—becoming a certified lumber grader and now serving as Planer Production Supervisor, leading a crew.
“My focus is keeping the crew safe, motivated, and meeting our quality and production standards,” he shared.
Joseph’s journey is a reflection of hard work, growth, and investing in yourself. We’re proud to recognize Joseph as this quarter’s Spotlight on Success.
