🌱 AT LAST!
The Easy Way To Replace A Leaking Sprinkler Head In 5 Minutes Or Less
(The Lazy Homeowner Method)
Dear friend,
I have no idea how you got on this post.
Maybe you found us on Google.
Maybe a friend referred you to it. Perhaps you stumbled onto it by dumb luck. 🤷♂️
But, however you got here, you have arrived at what is, without question, the simplest irrigation repair guide on Facebook. 💧
I’m sure you have a very good reason for being here.
You’re likely reading this because of some emergency right now!
So, let’s start fixing your problem — fast. ⚡️
Here’s How To Repair A Broken Sprinkler Head 101:
👇 Top 3 Common Causes Responsible:
- Faulty Head — cracked or damaged due to mower hits, freeze damage, or foot traffic
- Water Pressure Too High or Valve Not Closing Properly
- A tiny rock, Debris, even Dirt in the Sprinkler Head could be the 'bad boy' that's causing stress and costing you money..
🛠 First off...
1. Locate the broken head(s) ... ASSUMING that’s the problem and you’re sure.
(I don’t want to offend you, but while writing this post… I’ll assume you’ve never done this before… so, I’ll be keeping it super simple and maybe even cover something you already knew.)
2. Cut off the water supply.
No sense wasting water. 🚱
3. To raise the head without doing damage... well... more damage to your system,
you first need to remove the grass around the sprinkler.
⚠️ Don’t use a shovel or you could break something... else, and cause a whole different set of problems.
(Also be aware of critical control wiring)
4. Remove dirt from around the head,
usually a few inches down in a 5–6 inch radius just to be safe.
(Prevent dirt from falling into the irrigation pipe or it’ll clog your replacement head.)
🎉 CONGRATULATIONS!
You aren’t a brain surgeon yet, but you’ve managed to do the hard part.
5. Depending on your heads, you’ll need to unscrew the faulty part.
6. Replace it with the new head.
💦 NOW THE FUN PART!
7. Set the sprinkler dials so it’s covering the preferred water zone and adjust as necessary.
(Depending on your system, you may need to reprogram or reset your controller.)
💥 BOOM!
You did it.
There’s more complexity depending on your system — including wiring and additional checks.
