Leadership Anderson Class 41 spent Wednesday exploring the impact of education across Anderson County during our Education Day.

The day began with a tour of the Anderson 1 & 2 Career & Technology Center, where class members had the opportunity to see firsthand the incredible programs preparing students for future careers and workforce opportunities. Participants also heard from an educator panel that shared valuable insight into the opportunities and challenges within education today.

Class 41 then traveled to Anderson University for lunch, a superintendent panel discussion, and a campus tour before ending the day with meaningful conversations surrounding our class project and ways we can continue making a positive impact in our community.

Thank you to everyone who welcomed our class and helped make Education Day such a meaningful experience!

This morning, Leadership Anderson Class 41 celebrated the official groundbreaking of a new Village Home at 319 G Street in partnership with The LOT Project!

We chose this project because we believe in the life-changing impact these homes have on our community. The LOT Project’s Village Homes provide more than housing. They offer stability, support, case management, and a renewed understanding of home for individuals and families transitioning out of homelessness.

Past Leadership Anderson classes helped make two of the existing Village Homes possible, and Class 41 is proud to continue that legacy by sponsoring the G Street build. This house will soon become a home for a family or individuals working toward greater independence and a brighter future.

This project matters because safe, affordable housing can be the difference between surviving and truly rebuilding. In a time of rising housing costs and limited resources, Village Homes provides hope, opportunity, and a meaningful second chance.

We’re still fundraising to make this project happen! If you'd like to help us make lasting change in our community, consider supporting Leadership Anderson Class 41 and The LOT Project. Whether you have just $5 or $500 to give, every contribution helps!

Another stop during Agriculture Day took us to Jenkins House and Woodburn Plantation in Pendleton.

We learned how Pendleton became a summer retreat for families from Charleston, whose influence helped shape the region’s agricultural and educational development. Through organizations like the Farmer’s Society, they promoted new farming practices and supported the growth of agricultural education in the area.

These early efforts helped lay the groundwork for the founding of Clemson University and contributed to the region’s lasting agricultural legacy.

It was a fascinating look at how history, community, and agriculture are deeply connected in our region.

As part of Agriculture Day, Leadership Anderson Class 41’s third stop was Denver Downs Farm.

We had the opportunity to hear from Catherine Garrison Davis, who shared the long history of the Garrison family farm, which dates back to 1869. The farm has been passed down through multiple generations, and is now operated by the fourth generation of the Garrison family, continuing its agricultural legacy.

She also spoke about how the farm has evolved over time, including its early role in agriculture and education, and its continued focus today on agritourism and seasonal farm experiences.

It was a meaningful visit highlighting both the deep heritage and continued innovation of this historic family farm in our region.

As part of Agriculture Day, Leadership Anderson Class 41 visited Sweet P General.

We had the opportunity to learn more about this local, family-owned business and explore their greenhouse and shop, featuring a variety of plants, home goods, and seasonal items. The owners, Ashley and Waylon, gave us a great overview of the business and shared more about their work and operations.

It was a great stop highlighting local agriculture, entrepreneurship, and community-focused small business in Anderson County.
