Most of us think of Labor Day as the unofficial end of summer, but the holiday actually has a fascinating history.
Labor Day began in the late 1800s as a way to recognize the hard work and contributions of American workers. The first celebration was held in New York City in 1882, and by 1894 it had become a federal holiday. [dol.gov]
Here in Iowa, the state joined the national celebration in September 1894 when Labor Day was first recognized as a federal holiday. And if you're looking for a piece of Iowa history, the town of Graettinger is home to the state's oldest continuously running Labor Day celebration, dating back to 1896.
More than 130 years later, Labor Day remains a great reminder that behind every innovation, product, and advancement are people who make it happen.
Whether you're enjoying a long weekend, attending a parade, or spending time with family and friends, take a moment to appreciate the workers whose dedication helps keep our communities and industries moving forward.

This week, more than two dozen members of our team took part in Stop the Bleed training across two sessions.

The hands-on training gave our team the opportunity to practice critical skills, including applying compression bandages, packing a wound, and properly applying a tourniquet.

It was a great day of learning valuable skills that we hope our team will never need to use, but will be prepared to use if the need ever arises.

A big thank you to everyone who participated and helped make the training a success! 👏

After 22 years with Accumold, we recently had the opportunity to celebrate the retirement of 𝗖𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗴 𝗖𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁.

As a Project Engineer, Craig played a key role in countless projects throughout his career, but his impact reached far beyond any job title. Over the years, he wore many hats, shared an incredible amount of knowledge, and became someone his teammates could always count on. Whether it was helping solve a challenging problem at work or lending a hand to a coworker outside of work, Craig was always willing to help.

One thing everyone agreed on during his farewell celebration was that Craig always seemed to have the answers. His ability to recall projects from years, and even decades, ago never ceased to amaze us. More importantly, he was always eager to share that knowledge to help others succeed.

We were honored to celebrate Craig's career with sweet treats, great memories, and members of his family joining us for the occasion. It was clear from the stories shared that Craig has made a lasting impact on Accumold and played an important role in our growth over the past two plus decades.

While Craig says he'll miss working with the team and connecting with customers, we know his contributions and influence will remain part of Accumold for years to come.

Congratulations Craig on an outstanding career and we all wish you all the best as you begin this next exciting new chapter!

Accumold was happy to host members of the Heatwave FTC robotics team for a visit! The group toured our facility before meeting with members of our Automation Team for a Q&A session.

The students had the opportunity to learn more about careers in automation, ask questions about the technology and processes we use, and get insights from our team members. They also gave us a look at their own work by showing off their competition robot!

We’re proud to support the next generation of engineers, innovators, and problem-solvers and enjoyed having the Heatwave team at Accumold!
