Under the direction of Michigan SBDC Lead Center leadership, the Centralized Client Intake Manager is a critical leadership role responsible for transforming the Michigan SBDC’s intake process from a regional "patchwork" into a high-performance, standardized statewide model. This individual will oversee a centralized team of Intake Specialists to provide a professional, consistent, and efficient "front door" for all clients. The Manager balances high-level systems orchestration—including AI integration and tech stack management—with daily team supervision to ensure every client is efficiently triaged and matched with the right consultant based on geography and expertise. The Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Regional Director will play a key role in catalyzing business development efforts across the Capital Region (Ingham, Eaton, Clinton Counties). SBDC is a grant-funded department of LCC’s Community Education & Workforce Development (CEWD) division, and the program contributes to the growth and vitality of the Michigan economy. This program helps new and existing small businesses to start, grow, improve profitability, and create jobs. This position guides the strategic alignment, long-term planning, management oversight, and outreach efforts in order to promote Michigan SBDC’s mission in the region. The Regional Director ensures that all programs are operating in compliance with Federal, State and College statutes, contractual requirements, and policies.

Are you an innovative firm offering software solutions in Michigan’s mobility and automotive sector? Are you interested in expanding your business in the lucrative Japanese market?

The U.S. Commercial Service in Michigan, the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, and the U.S. Consulate in Osaka, Japan have joined forces to organize Target Japan: Michigan Mobility and Automotive Software Showcase for Michigan companies looking to expand sales and build relationships in Japan. Up to six Michigan companies will be selected to make live presentations of their software solutions to Japanese OEMs, suppliers, and software distributors, with live translators in Japan supporting the presentations and Q&A.

Ann Arbor SPARK and the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) are launching Michigan STEM Forward, a statewide program that matches students attending Michigan colleges and universities with internship opportunities at the state’s leading innovative companies. Companies do not have to be in a specific industry, but all internships must be STEM-focused. Michigan STEM Forward provides students meaningful career experience and promotes job retention in the state, while providing financial support to companies who hire these interns.

As a special offering for our April 15 session, we’re hosting a fireside chat with Ann Arbor SPARK’s Bill Mayer and Spellbound’s Christina York on their experience hosting interns and the unexpected value and benefits of interns and mentorship.

Who is eligible:
Students attending a Michigan college or university pursuing a STEM-related profession.

Federal aid is finally coming through for the businesses that were first to close and will likely be the last to fully reopen.

Applications opened for the Shuttered Venue Operators Grants for arts and entertainment businesses on Thursday, April 8.

In total, $16.2 billion is available for live venues, live performing arts organizations, museums, and movie theatres, as well as live venue promoters, theatrical producers, and talent representatives.

The first round of grants will be for businesses that suffered a 90% or greater revenue loss between April and December 2020.
