From 1932 to 1972 the U.S. government ran a secret medical study in Alabama.
Black men were told they were receiving treatment for bad blood.
They were not.
They were being observed — untreated — so researchers could document how syphilis progressed when nothing was done to stop it.
Penicillin was discovered in 1928.
It was widely available by 1947.
The government knew it worked.
They kept the study running for twenty-five more years.
It took an AP reporter to break the story in 1972.
It took another twenty-five years for a presidential apology.
THE PATTERN THAT NEVER CHANGES: the institution knew. The institution continued. The institution was eventually exposed. The institution apologized — decades later when the people harmed were mostly gone.
This is not the only time.
It is just the one they officially admitted.
🟢 The documented record is longer than most people know. We are going through it.

I grew up on a farm in Mancos, Colorado.
Population: less than a thousand.
When I was nine years old my father was killed in a car accident on his way to a mining project.
Overnight my mother was left to raise nine children.
Alone.
No safety net. No backup plan. No applause.
Just the next morning.
That was the day responsibility stopped being a concept and became a daily requirement.
I did not learn self-reliance from a book.
I learned it from a woman who had no other option and chose not to flinch.
That is where Built, Not Given comes from.
Not a brand. Not a slogan.
A farm in Mancos, Colorado where I watched someone build a life out of what was left after everything was taken.
Nobody saved us.
We saved ourselves.
🟢 Most of what I know about people — I learned before I ever walked into a hospital.
👇 If that resonates — share it with someone who would understand. This page is for people who were built, not given. Link is in my bio.

In 1985 the cigarette company bought your grocery store.
Philip Morris — the company that spent decades engineering ci******es to be as addictive as possible — purchased General Foods.
Jell-O. Kool-Aid. Maxwell House. Oscar Mayer. Tang.
Three years later they bought Kraft.
THE FOOD CONSPIRACY did not require a secret meeting.
It required an acquisition record.
The scientists who perfected ni****ne delivery did not retire when Big To***co bought Big Food.
They applied what they knew.
The bliss point. The craveability formula. The ratio of sugar, fat, and salt designed to override your brain's satiety signal before it could tell you to stop.
Your willpower never had a chance.
The product was built to win.
🟢 Sixty percent of American calories now come from ultra-processed food. The curve bends exactly where the to***co industry took over the food supply.

In 1999 I walked into my first ICU shift.
I thought I was there to help people heal.
I was. But I was also — without knowing it — working inside one of the most profitable extraction systems ever built.
Twenty-five years. ICU. ER. Psychiatry. Managed care.
I watched THE INSURANCE CARTEL deny claims from the bedside while the patient was still in the bed.
I watched administrators multiply while nurses disappeared.
I watched a system that was supposed to heal people become a system designed to keep them coming back.
At some point I stopped pretending what I was seeing was okay.
These are not broken systems.
They are working exactly as designed.
🟢 I built this page because someone with 25 years inside needed to start naming it clearly. That is what we do here.
👇 Do me a favor — if you just found this page this week, drop a 🔥 in the comments. I want to know who is here. And when you are ready to see what I found that operates completely outside this system — link is in my bio.

🚨 Most people know the first half of the OxyContin story. Eight hundred and six thousand dead. Two point two cents per dollar in fines. Here is the part they don't teach you — they planned the second half too.
Internal documents show Purdue was already planning to profit from addiction treatment while they were accelerating the addiction epidemic.
THE INSURANCE CARTEL
They knew people were becoming addicted.
They kept selling.
And simultaneously — they were positioning to sell the solution to the problem they were creating.
First — profit from the pill.
Then — profit from the rehab.
It's documented. It was reviewed in federal proceedings.
They called it getting into the addiction treatment business.
The insurance cartel didn't stop this.
It processed the opioid claims.
Then it processed the addiction treatment claims.
At every stage — the machine collected its fee.
While eight hundred and six thousand Americans died.
😶
Here is what twenty-five years as a nurse taught me:
The opioid crisis was not a failure of the healthcare system.
It was the system succeeding at what it was actually designed to do.
Extract. At every stage. From every angle. First from your health. Then from your recovery.
✅ There is a model that operates completely outside that machine.
✅ No pharmaceutical contracts. No administrator approval chains.
✅ Built on what communities did before the machine was built.
🟢 I spent 25 years inside what that machine built. Then I found the exit.

🚨 In nursing there's a protection called Safe Harbor. Hospitals hate it. Most nurses are afraid to use it. This is why.
What does Russian roulette have to do with nursing? The difference is — in Russian roulette, the odds don't change.
THE INSURANCE CARTEL
Most people have never heard of Safe Harbor.
In nursing — if you're placed in a dangerous situation, bad staffing, reckless orders, administration pushing you past the line — you can declare it.
The Texas Board of Nursing defines it as protection from discipline, retaliation, suspension, and termination for invoking it in good faith.
Here's what most people don't know:
Texas and New Mexico are the only two states in the country with Safe Harbor protections for nurses.
Two states.
Out of fifty.
And in those two states — hospitals hate it.
Because the moment a nurse declares Safe Harbor — it triggers a formal peer review investigation.
The organization goes under a microscope.
So hospitals quietly discourage nurses from using the protection designed to protect them.
They make it uncomfortable.
They make it professionally risky.
They make you feel like you're the problem for refusing the dangerous assignment they handed you.
😶
The system designed a protection.
Then built a culture to make sure you never use it.
I spent 25 years watching nurses absorb assignments they should have refused — because they were afraid of what declaring Safe Harbor would do to their career.
The game was rigged. Still is.
🟢 After 25 years watching nurses absorb what they should have refused — I found the exit for families. It's in my bio.

🚨 I looked down into that canyon and saw my brother in agonal respirations. One pupil fixed. One dilated. As an ICU nurse — I knew exactly what I was looking at. My brother was dying.
What happened next I cannot explain in any other way except this: God is real.
We were logging above Pagosa Springs, Colorado.
My brother Karl was on the ground cutting limbs when Michael's Komatsu bulldozer blade caught a thirty-foot aspen tree — and swung it into Karl's skull.
Forty thousand pounds of machine. Thirty feet of tree.
I raced down the mountain.
Agonal respirations. One pupil fixed. One fully dilated.
I did what I could. Then I left to get help.
When I came back —
💬 Karl was sitting by the fire.
Conscious. Upright. Pupils normal.
He got up under his own power and walked out of that canyon.
😶
I have watched people die. I know what the end looks like when it is arriving.
What I witnessed in that canyon was not medicine.
It was not coincidence.
It was the moment death changed its mind.
God is real. Not as metaphor. Not as comfort. As a documented, witnessed, undeniable fact.
That's not something a man walks away from unchanged.
Built, Not Given isn't just about the healthcare system.
It's about building a life that can stand on something solid.
🟢 Faith is solid. I've seen the proof with my own eyes.

🚨 One doctor dies by su***de every day in America. Highest rate of any profession. Higher than veterans. Higher than first responders. There is no awareness month.
THE INSURANCE CARTEL
Not a single ribbon for this one.
No campaign. No press conference. No hashtag.
Just the math — and the system that produced it.
A thirty-three percent inflation-adjusted pay cut over twenty-five years.
Seventy-eight percent of physicians now employed by corporations.
Eight minutes per patient to cover costs.
The doctor who knew your name, your history, your family — reduced to a billing slot.
One per day.
😶
I spent 25 years watching what this system does to the people inside it.
The people keeping you alive are being destroyed by the same machine extracting from you.
🟢 After 25 years watching this — I found the exit. It's in my bio.

🚨 In 1967 the New England Journal of Medicine published a review that cleared sugar and blamed fat. Harvard scientists wrote it. The Sugar Research Foundation paid them. The letters proving it sat in a basement for 48 years.
This is not a conspiracy theory. This is documented. The letters were found in a Harvard archive in 2016.
THE FOOD CONSPIRACY
That single review shaped American dietary guidelines for decades.
It shaped what doctors told patients.
It shaped the low-fat craze that triggered an explosion of obesity and metabolic disease.
The Sugar Research Foundation paid the equivalent of fifty thousand dollars to Harvard scientists — to publish findings that cleared sugar.
The funding was never disclosed.
The letters proving it were found in a basement forty-eight years later.
Here is the chain nobody teaches in school:
The pharma company funds the medical school.
The medical school trains the doctor.
The doctor tells you what to eat.
The food made you sick.
The drug company was waiting at the other end.
The insurance company denied the claim.
THE FOOD CONSPIRACY didn't just engineer your breakfast to be addictive.
It bought the scientists who were supposed to protect you from exactly that.
😶
I spent 25 years as a nurse watching every link in that chain run.
✅ There is a model that operates completely outside this loop.
✅ No pharmaceutical contracts. No administrator approval chains.
✅ Built on what communities did before the loop was built.
🟢 25 years watching this chain run from the inside. Then I found the exit.

🚨 One number. Three hundred and ninety-one to one. That is the CEO-to-nurse pay ratio at HCA Healthcare. The nurse holding your hand when you are scared earns one dollar. The executive earns three hundred and ninety-one.
That ratio didn't happen by accident.
THE HOSPITAL RACKET
For every dollar a nurse earns — the CEO earns three hundred and ninety-one.
The nurse who catches the medication error before it reaches you.
The nurse who hasn't eaten since six in the morning because the floor is short-staffed again.
Three hundred and ninety-one to one.
While building that ratio — HCA took one billion dollars in CARES Act COVID relief money.
The same week — they threatened nurses with layoffs.
One billion in federal bailout money.
Layoff threats to the people keeping patients alive.
😶
This is not a broken system.
This is a system working exactly as the people running it intended.
I spent 25 years as one of those nurses watching this math run in real time.
✅ There is a model where no corporation sits between you and your care.
✅ No administrator collecting a bonus while nurses go hungry.
✅ No hospital racket taking its cut before your family gets care.
🟢 I watched this run for 25 years. Then I found the exit.
