So the secret is out!

You all know that I enjoy organizing garages but I also have a growing interest in helping clients who are experiencing life transitions like incorporating a new addition to the home (ie. romantic partner, aging parent, or pet.

Transitions can also include adjusting to a change in work/office space or repurposing a space. So lookout for my upcoming Transitions Specialist Certification!

I have had success with helping my growing clientele rethink and work through the challenges and complexities that life transitions have on creating systems and maintaining an organized space.

Hello! I’m still here hosting virtual organizing and in-person sessions. This past few months, I’ve been reading a great book by the Afro-Minimalist. It’s a guide to living with less from a former “Keeping up with the Joneses” diva. This book is a deep dive into understanding how history and culture has had a significant impact on Black consumerism. And, why we often have too much stuff and struggle to let go of our possessions.

I’m curious if you also struggle with letting go of things. Let’s chat about it!

I recently worked with a client who hasn't worked in her office in over a year due to life transitions causing an accumulation of clutter. Before her spouse moved-in she was a very organized person but the new addition to her space made it hard for her to adjust and she just needed a bit of help to get back to her normal.

After our session, she said that the stress lifted off her shoulders when entering her organized office and she logged into her next zoom meeting, from her office, for the first time in over 12 months.

Managing Client Expectations

Working with organized clients can be challenging. They have working systems in place and often need a bit of an adjustment to certain areas and ideas to make space in other areas.

Busy professionals often have an idea of what they want organizationally and just need their ideas implemented or another mind to think through the complexity.

Either way, what I found to be the most helpful is open and clear communication. The key to managing my client’s expectations is active listening, understanding my client’s personality, and creating unique systems that work for their specific needs.

When it's Christmas in February

As promised, I’m using this platform in full transparency of my entrepreneurial journey. In a few months, I celebrate one-year as an entrepreneur. This journey has it ups and downs with so much to learn and an endless list of to-dos.

My LLC’s legal name is The Jubilee Collective because I want to live a life of jubilation and run businesses that are personally fulfilling. So Jillian & Leigh is the first legal d.b.a under the collective’s umbrella.

This weekend was a clear reminder that even as an entrepreneur there are forces that work to upend upward mobility and disrupt our joy. Someone found the time to report my business page which caused me to have to verify my identity in a certain timeframe before they would have deleted my page. The next day, someone from a local computer, attempted to hack the same account.

As a new entrepreneur, these actions are motivators for me to continue my upward mobility and run my pages how I see fit. If my business is for you then I’m sure we will ultimately have a great relationship. If not, then please feel free to unfollow and move on as I’m going to continue to run my pages my way. I’ll organize and share resources as I choose too.
