SPOTLIGHT: Hot off the heels of her 2023 garage-rock inspired release, ‘64 Magic Queens,’ singer-songwriter, Sarah Burton is getting ready to close out 2024 with her new album, ‘Swoonville USA.’

A collection of songs that range from Americana to 90s inspired singer-songwriter, the album is reminiscent of artists like Sheryl Crow, the Rembrandts and The Shins, with a heavy stroke of Margo Price style country and even a little touch of the folky side of the Beatles.

Recorded at Afterlife and Capsule studios in Vancouver, BC, the friendship and camaraderie amongst the players is the perfect compliment to this group of songs that are largely about finding love and friendship, even in trying times.

Burton has called Austin, TX home part-time since 2019, but her true home may be the road. Originally from Toronto, Burton’s career started with a broken heart, a broken down van, and a haphazard tour across Canada in a van named Lucky. This set the tone for an artist life driven by adventure, spontaneity, and a desire to connect with people from all walks of life.

4 minivans, and hundreds of songs later, Sarah has released 5 albums, toured Canada and the U.S. extensively, playing 150-200 shows a year, and been selected for festivals and conferences across North America, including Mile of Music (Wisconsin), Red Ants Pants Music Festival (Montana), MerleFest (North Carolina), CMW, NXNE, CMJ, and more. She has shared the stage with the likes of international heavyweight singer/songwriters Jim Lauderdale, Susan Gibson, Gordie Johnson, and Mary Gauthier.

Calling Andrina Turenne's new album ‘Bold As Logs’ her debut feels like a bit of a misnomer. The Winnipeg singer-songwriter has, after all, graced stages across five continents and has lent her voice—as a member or a guest—to more than 50 albums during her 20-plus years in the music industry. In addition, she has a Juno for best roots & traditional album, awarded to her former band Chic Gamine.

‘Bold As Logs’ contains 11 soulfully engaging songs, delivered in the spirit of road trips, kitchen parties, and bonfire gatherings. Andrina may have taken her time to move front and center, but her time is now—and it was worth the wait. “Where I'm at now, it feels like the free-est I've ever been creatively. Even though this project carries my name and my stories, I'm so grateful to have shared these moments collaborating with my oldest musical pals. Being in the studio and making this record, it felt like all the roads I've been on led me straight there.”

Andrina’s ability to merge a wide range of genres is the real magic behind Bold As Logs. It’s easy to hear the impact of everyone she’s looked up to, from Irma Thomas to Bonnie Raitt to Gillian Welch throughout the album. Still, everything about ‘Bold As Logs’ sounds indisputably pure.

Mae Simpson has been shaking up the Minneapolis music scene ever since her band formed in 2017, performing on larger and larger stages to a growing base of loyal fans across the Midwest.

Led by her powerful vocals, the six-piece band brings audiences to their feet. The Minneapolis-based singer-songwriter weaves elements of funk, soul, pop, rock, and country into her sound. Mae and her bandmates leave it all on the stage. Their high-energy show creates a powerful connection with the audience.

Hailing originally from South Carolina, Mae has been passionate about singing and creating music for as long as she can remember. Her broad and soulful voice and deep well of creative energy are complemented by the musicianship and passion of the band.

The band has released two EPs, "Feel It Comin’" in 2018 and "Did You Make it Back" in 2020. Their debut full-length album, 'Chandelier & Bloom,' is currently out for ADDs on North American radio and will be officially released on September 1, 2023!
