We send our deepest condolences to Warden Joshua Tibbetts' family, friends and colleagues during this tragic event.

We are heartbroken to share that a Maine Game Warden died this morning following a plane crash in Avon, near Schoolhouse Pond. The crash occurred at approximately 11:00 a.m.

This is a devastating loss for the Maine Warden Service, our Department, and the people of Maine. Our thoughts are with the family, loved ones, colleagues, and all those impacted by this tragedy.

We will share additional information as it becomes available.

Yesterday afternoon we responded to a structure fire on Winter Street in our North Village. We would like to thank ALL our mutual aid departments for their quick response, Rick Caldwell for being in the right place at the right time and our community members for helping drag hose at the beginning when our personnel was scarce. We appreciate it.

As we head into a weekend of extremely cold weather, we are aware of 2 warming centers that will be open in Somerset County, the Starks Community Center Library and the Skowhegan Community Center. The Skowhegan Community Center is prepared to extend hours, including overnight, if needed. Their addresses and hours of operation are listed below.
