Happy National Non-Profit Day! 🤝💙

To mark the occasion, Stelray recognizes Spooner House, our long-time partner located in Shelton, CT.

A full-service shelter and food pantry, Spooner House's mission to treat all with dignity and respect reflects Stelray's core values and commitment to the Greater Valley community. For over 20 years now, we have run our annual “Fill the Hopper” food drive to support the Spooner House during the holiday season.

We are so grateful to be a helping hand to an organization like Spooner House. But the holidays are not the only time of year Spooner House needs our support: individual contributions, donations and your volunteered time go a long way throughout the year.

Happy National Support Public Education Day!📚

This year, in honor of this very special day, we would like to acknowledge the achievements of two very important members of the Stelray organization. Dalyla Lopez and Tabitha Lee, both alumnae of Emmett O’Brien Technical High School and the Connecticut Technical Education and Career System, have recently celebrated significant milestones in their career journeys as part of Stelray's apprenticeship programs.

An all-star in our Tool Room, Dalyla surpassed 5,000 hours this Spring toward her 8,000 hour moldmaking apprenticeship. This is a massive milestone on her way to becoming a journeyman moldmaker and we are thrilled to continue supporting Dalyla as she develops her skills.

A versatile utility player who has found success across our plant, Tabitha Lee just this week completed her apprenticeship program and will receive a certificate from the State of Connecticut certifying her as a journeyman Injection Molding Technician. We could not be more proud of Tabitha's growth here at Stelray as she cements herself as a future leader in our organization.

Without our continued collective investment in public education and supporting of the trades, Stelray would be without two of its most promising young talents. On this day, and ideally every day, let us recognize the extraordinary value of our local public schools.

🏭 Happy National Family Owned & Operated Businesses Day! 🏭

To celebrate this year's iteration, we thought we would have a little fun by opening up the archives for a glimpse into the early years of Stelray Plastic Products!

This Polaroid was snapped sometime in the early 1980s, just a few years into Stelray's existence under Saffran Family ownership. All smiles on the left is President Emeritus Mort Saffran with the overdressed Larry Saffran to his right.

While we can share a laugh over this vintage photo, the significance of this day is deeply meaningful to Stelray and the Saffran Family. Generational family businesses are a critical component of a robust economy, especially within local communities. Stelray and the Saffrans are proud of the shared success we have been able to achieve alongside our neighbors within the state of Connecticut, the Naugatuck River Valley region, and the city of Ansonia.
