Happy Birthday to Sam Montijo!!! 🎉

If you know Sam, you already know, he’s the one making things happen behind the scenes and keeping everything moving forward.

As our Director of Business Development & Recruiting, he somehow balances building relationships, finding great people, and growing the business… all while keeping a good attitude (even on the crazy days).

Honestly, the team wouldn’t be the same without him. He brings a ton of energy, is always willing to jump in, and just gets it.

Hope you get a chance to relax a little today, you’ve earned it. Happy Birthday, Sam! 🎂

Why the construction job market is broken

The Construction Job Market Isn’t Tight—It’s Broken

Since 2020, hiring in construction hasn’t just gotten harder—it’s fundamentally changed.

The industry needs ~500,000+ workers per year just to keep up with demand (Associated Builders and Contractors)
90%+ of contractors say they can’t find qualified talent
Most applicants simply don’t have the field experience or certifications required

This isn’t a pipeline issue. It’s a talent shortage.

Here’s what’s really causing the pain:

“Qualified” is rare – Anyone can apply. Very few can actually run work, manage crews, or stay compliant.

Companies are too slow – 3+ interviews, delayed offers, outdated salary bands… meanwhile candidates are accepting offers in days.

DIY hiring is expensive – Open roles = delayed projects, overtime costs, and missed revenue.

The reality most companies miss:

A strong construction recruiter doesn’t just “fill roles”—they:

Know who’s actually open to moving
Pre-vet for real field experience
Help you move faster than your competition

And here’s the kicker

One delayed project can cost 10x more than a recruiter fee.

Bottom line:

This market rewards speed, specialization, and strategy.

If you’re still hiring like it’s 2015…
you’re going to keep losing like it’s 2026.

If you’re a Site Superintendent in wastewater and your project pipeline feels uncertain right now, this may be worth a conversation.

We’re working with a team that has a strong backlog of wastewater treatment plant work—not short-term projects, but consistent, long-term builds.

💰 $130K–$180K + truck + performance bonuses
📍 Onsite

They’re looking for someone who:

Has wastewater treatment plant experience
Can run projects independently and keep teams moving
Values a steady environment with low turnover

This is a group that’s built stability into their operation, and it shows in how long people stay.

If you’re open to something more consistent or just want to compare what’s out there, feel free to reach out.

If you’re a PM in residential construction right now, you probably fall into one of two buckets:

• juggling more jobs than you should be
• or ready to get out of the daily chaos and run bigger work

I’m working on an Operations Manager opportunity in Raleigh (single-family electrical).

This isn’t babysitting one project — it’s overseeing crews, PMs, and multiple communities.

If you’re ready to step up and actually run the operation, let’s talk.

Outgrowing QuickBooks? You’re not the only one.

Job costing gets harder to trust. Reporting takes longer. And by the time you realize a job lost money, it's too late to do anything about it.

Most contractors know they need a better system. The hesitation is usually the transition — it feels like a big, expensive, disruptive project just to get started.

That is why we created a different approach.

Instead of treating the transition as a separate upfront project, we build it into a structured first year.

You get the system set up correctly — chart of accounts, job cost structure, ERP environment — and your monthly accounting delivered at the same time!

One monthly fee. No large implementation invoice before you've seen any value.

The transition isn't just a one-time event, it's how your job cost structure gets built. How your reporting gets designed. How everything flows from day one.

For the right companies, it ends up being a much more practical way to make the move — you're not just installing software, you're building the financial foundation your business actually needs!

If that's something you've been thinking about, we'd love to talk through what it could look like for you.

🚧 Project Superintendents — this is the kind of role you don’t scroll past. 🚧

If you’re the type who takes ownership of your jobsite, keeps projects moving, and doesn’t need someone looking over your shoulder… keep reading.

We’re hiring a Project Superintendent to lead projects from the ground up — not just manage them, but own them.

What makes this role different:
• You’re trusted to run your job — no micromanaging
• You’ll work on diverse, hands-on projects (not the same rinse-and-repeat jobs)
• Your input actually matters — problem-solving is expected, not avoided
• You’ll see the full picture and the direct impact of your decisions

This is a strong fit for someone who:
✔ Is tired of being micromanaged
✔ Wants more ownership and autonomy
✔ Takes pride in running a clean, efficient jobsite

You thought the job was profitable. Then the numbers came in. That moment, when the financials don't match what you expected, is one of the most common conversations we have with construction companies.

The problem usually isn't the job itself. It's that the accounting system wasn't built to give you clear answers. Most advisory firms show up after the mess. We built a framework to get ahead of it.

Our Client Accounting & Advisory Services (CAS) program is designed specifically for construction companies, starting with the financial foundation: ERP setup, job cost structure, and reporting built correctly from day one.

The Launch Tier — exclusively available at RDM — is where we start. Because fixing a broken system later is far more expensive than building it right the first place.

If this sounds familiar, read more here: https://www.rdmcaa.com/post/the-hidden-cost-of-building-your-accounting-system-too-late

We had such a great experience updating our team photos with Summer Disalvo Photography!

As our firm continues to grow, it was important for us to have photos that reflect who we are, professional, collaborative, and genuinely invested in the work we do for our clients. This session captured that perfectly (and included plenty of laughs along the way)!

Strong visuals matter more than most people realize, they shape first impressions before a conversation even begins. We’re excited to start incorporating these into our website and marketing.

Thank you again Summer!
