🚨 Pennsylvania Drivers: New Cell Phone Driving Penalties Start This Friday (June 5)! 🚨
Please help spread the word to your family and friends.
Beginning June 5, Pennsylvania drivers caught holding a cell phone or other handheld communication device while driving will face fines under Paul Miller’s Law. Since the law took effect last June, law enforcement has been issuing warnings. Starting Friday, citations and penalties begin.
📱 What you need to know:
✅ Holding a phone while driving is a primary offense, meaning police can pull you over solely for this violation.
✅ Violators face a $50 fine, plus court costs and additional fees.
✅ Hands-free use is still permitted through Bluetooth, speakerphone, docking stations, or other hands-free technology.
✅ Phones may still be used to contact emergency responders.
Paul Miller’s Law is named in memory of a young Pennsylvanian who was killed in 2010 by a distracted tractor-trailer driver.
The goal is simple: save lives.
According to PennDOT, distracted driving contributed to more than 11,000 crashes, 65 fatalities, and 6,700 injuries in Pennsylvania during 2023.
