A Thought on Environmental Impact
If we’re going to have honest conversations about the environment, we should talk about all impacts, not just the ones we see.
People often focus on mosquito control, but rarely discuss:
• Large-scale land clearing and development
• Wetland drainage and alteration
• Shoreline modification
• Habitat fragmentation
• Road construction
• Agricultural runoff
• Invasive species
• Loss of native plant communities
• Fertilizer and nutrient loading into lakes and rivers
These changes affect thousands of acres and can permanently alter ecosystems.
That doesn’t mean mosquito control has zero impact. Every human activity has some impact.
The question shouldn’t be whether an activity has an impact. The question should be:
“How significant is that impact, and is it being managed responsibly?”
As a licensed pest control company, we follow product labels, use targeted applications, avoid blooming plants whenever possible, and focus on reducing mosquitoes and ticks where people spend time outdoors.
Reasonable people can disagree on where the balance should be.
But if we’re going to discuss environmental stewardship, let’s make sure we’re looking at the whole picture, not just one piece of it.
