Today is celebrated as Earth Day. Its aim is to raise awareness about conservation and sustainability of the environment and to implement urgent measures for a healthier future. This year it comes under the theme of "Planet versus Plastics" with the goal of achieving a 60% reduction in the production of this material by 2040.

Kathleen Rogers (President of the Earth day organization) calls for reflection: "We have become the product itself: it flows through our bloodstream, adheres to our internal organs, and carries with it heavy metals known to cause cancer and disease. Now, this product that was once considered amazing and useful has become something else, and our health and that of all other living beings are at stake. What can be done?”

• Educate people about the impact of these materials and promote public awareness.
• Adopt more sustainable practices to eliminate the consumption of single-use plastics.
• Demand policies to end the scourge of fast fashion.
• Invest in innovative technologies and materials.
