A Purple Martin Nest Check Experience

Join us for a rare opportunity to see tiny Purple Martin hatchlings up close during a real nest check at Woolly Yak Ranch & Winery.

Purple Martins are North America’s largest swallows, famous for their incredible migrations and graceful aerial acrobatics. During this special event, we’ll share a brief introduction to these fascinating birds before carefully lowering several of our Purple Martin houses for a safe, supervised look inside.

Guests will have the chance to see tiny hatchlings, learn about the nesting process, and discover why these remarkable birds return to our pond each year.

Heavy Hearts at the Farm 💔

Sometimes farm life brings incredible joy, and sometimes it brings heartbreak.

Today, we are sharing the sad news that we lost Indy, our first yak calf born this season.

From the moment Indy arrived on Indy 500 race day, that little calf was surrounded by love. Chris and I spent countless hours caring for Indy, bottle feeding, and working closely with our veterinarian to give every possible chance. Despite everyone’s efforts, Indy’s journey was simply too short.

We are heartbroken. But we are grateful for the short time we had together and take comfort in knowing that Indy knew nothing but warmth, care, and love throughout every moment of life.

While we mourn this loss, farm life continues on. Our herd recently welcomed another healthy yak calf who is doing well. We don’t yet know if this little one is a boy or a girl, and a name is still to come.

Thank you for being part of the journey—the joyful moments and the difficult ones alike.
