Laishley’s back!

“Laishley Park Municipal Marina partially reopened after hurricanes Helene and Milton forced the Punta Gorda facility to close nearly two years ago.

The city has completed temporary repairs, allowing the marina to operate at reduced capacity within a temporary footprint.

The repairs were authorized under the city’s Temporary Use Agreement with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection and will remain in place until permanent reconstruction begins. A date for that work has not been determined.

There are currently 61 operational slips. The Boater’s Restrooms and showers, boat ramp and Day Room also have been repaired and reopened, City Manager Melissa Reichert said” — Gulfcoast Business

New marina options coming to Punta Gorda! 🛶🛥️⛵️🚤

“Punta Gorda City Council on Aug. 26 voted 4-0 to approve a special permit for the property owner of 300 West Retta Esplanade to build a 62-slip marina adjoining the 5-acre site where the now-demolished Punta Gorda Waterfront Hotel once stood.

Construction for the $4 million marina will begin in October, with completion slated for the end of the year.” Gulfshore Business

More affordable housing is on its way to Charlotte County

"Charlotte County commissioners approved a $340,000 Local Government Area of Opportunity loan for Coconut Grove-based Housing Trust Group’s proposed Murdock Square development, an 88-unit affordable housing project on Veterans Boulevard in Port Charlotte. But county officials said it represents only a small step toward addressing a severe housing shortage.

The commission approved the loan at its July 28 meeting following a recommendation from the Affordable Housing Advisory Committee." --Gulfshore Business

“Developers of West Port in Charlotte County announced a major eastward expansion of the master-planned community that will add 423 new homes across 180 acres.
