Intermediate Scent Detection is now enrolling!

This group class follows our Beginning Scent Detection. Now that you have learned to work with your dog as a team, read their body language and help them be their best scent detectives, you will now take the next step in this series!

Introduction to target odors is a big deal in scent work. This lays the foundation for how your dog understands the game of finding target odors as well as how much motivation they have to do the work.

Sarah is a skilled instructor with 10+ years of experience building Scent Detection Teams. She is also a graduate of the Karen Pryor Academy’s Dog Trainer Professional course, making her an expert at clicker training and teaching clicker training to others!

My favorite thing about board and trains is bringing them in to be part of our family. Watching these puppies grow and being privileged enough to be part of their training journey is such a gift. My latest training partner is Mr Fitz. He’s learning big things while his family is abroad.

Recently I’ve started a Rally Novice group class. I’ve always taught competitive obedience and rally through private lessons, but putting together this course has been a lot of fun.

For the past 14 years, I’ve been developing my own skills with focused heel and all the other components of competitive obedience.

Heeling is a passion of mine and I’ve been privileged to be able to collaborate with some of the top trainers on ways to build a better focused heel.

If you’ve been wanting to develop a deeper bond with your dog, get your feet wet in a new sport or trouble shoot areas of your routine that you’ve been struggling with, join me in my upcoming Rally Novice Class.

We have openings for our Day Training program in our new location behind Companion Animal Foundation off Jacobs Ave in Eureka!

Day Training gives your dog professional training while you go about your day. Your dog spends the day with My Nosey K9, practicing useful skills, then returns home each evening.

Unlike traditional daycare, Day Training focuses on individual training goals, such as:

* Loose leash walking and coming when called
* Sit, down, stay, and place
* Polite greetings without jumping
* Focus and calm behavior around distractions
* Confidence in new environments
* Handling skills and appropriate social behavior

We also guide you on how to reinforce those skills at home so your dog’s progress carries into everyday life.

Update on the working line GSD who I’m helping learn to be quieter/calm in his crate!
This video was long, so I uploaded to YouTube. It’s unedited on purpose.

It’s important to acknowledge this is/was a complex behavior chain that has been rehearsed for around two years on a regular basis. Vocalizing feels good, running in circles brought relief and exploding out of the crate itself felt good. Replacing that with “calm” means we need to break things down, go slow, and address each piece of this behavior chain separately.
