Arcola residents deserve leadership focused on solutions, transparency, and stability — not continued political division.
The recent accusations surrounding the transition raise important questions, but they also highlight a larger issue: our city should never be left vulnerable during a change in administration. A proper transition process should ensure incoming leaders have access to operational information, ongoing projects, city procedures, and staff coordination necessary to keep the city functioning effectively for residents.
From what has been shared, there appears to have been confusion surrounding meeting coordination, staff access, and administrative procedures. Those matters should be addressed professionally and according to city policy — not turned into political theater that further divides the community.
At the end of the day, residents care about real issues:
• drainage and flooding concerns,
• infrastructure and street lighting,
• quality development standards,
• property values,
• traffic and safety,
• and accountability from builders and developers.
Many residents in areas like Post Oak Pointe continue raising concerns about construction quality, resale struggles, and long-term neighborhood investment. Those concerns deserve the same level of energy and attention being given to political disputes.
My opinions may not represent the entirety of the city, and I respect that different residents will have different perspectives and priorities. However, I would rather see energy directed toward encouraging broader citizen participation in council meetings and public discussions instead of creating a growing reliance on social media posts, YouTube videos, and online back-and-forth as the primary source of city updates.
Healthy disagreement is part of local government, but productive civic engagement happens when residents are informed directly, involved consistently, and able to participate in official public processes together.
If former leaders truly care about the future of Arcola, then mentorship, cooperation, and helping establish continuity would benefit the city more than public fighting. Strong leadership is not about blocking progress — it’s about helping the city move forward responsibly, even after elections are over.
The citizens of Arcola should not continue being caught in the middle of political battles. The focus now should be on restoring trust, improving city operations, and addressing the everyday concerns impacting residents.
