Hello Neighbor,
We just wanted to introduce ourselves and tell you about our exciting news. My name is Mike Hardiek, and with my business partner Scott Thatcher, we are the proud new owners of the Farmers Grain of Arcola. In the future the world will know them as the Silos at Arcola. These majestic monoliths have long served as the skyline of Arcola. We are committed to their future.
In an effort to stay ahead of the rumors we believe that it is important that the members of the community be fully informed about our plans. Initially we acknowledge there is a tremendous need to improve the grounds and building exteriors. It is important that as people enter Arcola, they are greeted with a facility that is a true representation of the pride the community holds. The Silos at Arcola will initially offer both surface and interior storage to our neighbors in the community. This will serve as a way to keep the property active as we strive to improve it’s overall appearance. Over time storage will be phased out as we continue to make upgrades to the structures.
The second exciting project is to convert the old weigh station into an event center and gathering place. This unique building will be a perfect spot for family reunions, baby showers, and community events. We look forward to incorporating elements from the old granary as we create a unique space that pays respect to the past as we look to the future. Instead of simply tearing down and starting over, we know that it is important to show the unique history of Arcola and the people who live here. History will serve as a focal point as we honor the traditions of rural life in Indiana.
What’s the dream? Over time we are looking forward to creating one of Northeast Indiana’s most memorable experiences. From a farmers’ market to monthly community events. From family gatherings to graduations. The Silos at Arcola is committed to keeping Arcola a special place to live.
