There are always exceptions, but hard bond diamonds will outlast everything else on soft concrete, outdoor slabs, and most removal work. Soft surface? Use hard bond.

Dots or Bars?

One of the questions we get asked often: dots or bars for your grinding bits? We've run both across enough jobs to give you a straight answer.

The short version: dots leave a smoother scratch pattern, bars cut more aggressively. The right choice comes down to what you're prepping for.

What's actually different

Bars have sharp corners. Every corner is a cutting edge, so they bite harder and remove material faster. That aggression is great when you're chasing coverage and don't need a refined finish underneath.

Dots are rounded. Fewer sharp edges means a gentler cut and a noticeably smoother scratch pattern left behind.

Conclusion:

If you're prepping for a solid color or flake epoxy floor, bars work best but either one gets the job done. The flake and multiple layers cover the scratch pattern, so you're free to pick based on speed and feel rather than finish quality.

For polishing and grind and clears? Stick with dots.
