Sometimes termites are found inside a damaged tree. Unfortunately, when a tree falls against a home or opens up part of the structure, active or previous termite damage may also be uncovered. Adult luna moths don’t have functional mouthparts, so they never eat. They live for only about 7–10 days, and their sole mission is to find a mate and reproduce.

Think of all the problems they avoid: no grocery bills, no deciding what’s for dinner, no taxes, no awkward family reunions, and no wondering where their paycheck went. They simply show up, look beautiful, find a mate, and call it a life. Honestly, they may have figured it all out! 😂

By late summer, wasp nests have grown larger, and the colony is aggressively protecting its larvae. Wasps can build nests almost anywhere, including under eaves, behind shutters, around gutters and downspouts, and inside wall voids.

Seeing pests inside? Check your windows!

One of the easiest ways to keep pests out of your home is to make sure your windows and doors are properly closed and sealed.

Here’s something I find more often than you might think: if you have windows that open from both the top and bottom, check BOTH sections periodically to make sure they’re completely closed.

At this home, the top of the window had been left open for so long that a dirt dauber had actually built a mud nest on the interior trim molding!

A small opening is all insects need. Taking a few minutes to check windows, doors, screens, and weather stripping can prevent a lot of unwanted visitors.
