"Gemba" is a Japanese term meaning "the real place"—the place where work happens. A Gemba Walk brings leaders and team members into the field to observe processes firsthand, ask questions, learn from one another, and identify opportunities to improve together.

Last week, our Texas team completed its first Gemba Walk, taking another step in strengthening how we collaborate across teams and continuously improve the way we work. By seeing challenges firsthand and learning directly from our people, we're building solutions that are practical, innovative, and driven by those closest to the work.

Some of our Eastern Region quarries recently participated in Tire Awareness Training, taking a closer look at how proper inspection, maintenance, and handling keep our teams safe.

Here’s what’s at stake:
• Tire failures can release explosive energy due to high air pressure
• Heat, overloading, and underinflation greatly increase blowout risk
• Small cuts, wear, or damage can escalate quickly if left unchecked
